Title says it. I've got a lvl 24 titan. I have a New Monarchy mark, but I went to browse available gear, and they all require crucible stuff. I detest PvP, and have no desire to get my ass handed to me by more experienced players. Unless I get the points I need even for chewing on someone's boot? How else can I earn all the super cool gear? (I don't have either of the DLCs yet, either)

Ranking up gets you faction packages that can contain weapons, armor, and other things like rare shaders and ships. I've got a good half dozen New Monarchy weapons and I've never had to buy one with marks. I don't play much PvP either so I know what you mean about crucible marks making stuff seem like gear is out of reach but with time you'll get a lot of that stuff for free if you rank up often. Absolutely worth it to stick with a faction.

You get reward packages from the factions for levelling up after rank 2. You may not purchase stuff from them with out the crucible marks but you can still get the gear as well as shaders and ships ( not available for sale) in the packages.

You can get their gear in the packages after leveling them up.

Edited by joey big guns: 5/19/2015 7:14:20 AMWell I got a lot of weapons, armor and 2 shaders from dead orbit for leveling up with them. I got a few weapons so far from leveling up new monarchy. Just cause they require crucible marks to buy from them doesn't mean you can't get the gear by drops rngesus style.

Level up dead orbit, the revenant all black shader is from them. It's super rare and the only place I've heard getting it is from packages.

there is a point as even PvE activities such as the nightfall, weekly and daily heroics give rep to the faction as does your bounties. once the faction levels up, you get a package at the postmaster. it contains random items from that vendor. usually with better perks and such than the ones someone can purchase from the vendor. level up a faction. also can get shaders and if you got a lucky horseshoe up your ass, a faction ship :) don't need crucible to get access to that gear.

Nope.

I'd get the class item and just were it during your pve prowling just to level it up and not have to play pvp. Also after rank three, you can get some good stuff like weapons with different rolls then what the vender sells, shaders that you can only get from that faction, ships and other cool things.
-
You still get marks even if you get your ass handed to you , if its not your thing then dont do it, plenty of good pve vendor krap out there to
-
I hate pvp too. But its prolly worth getting a faction to rank two for armor. Just do bounties and shit. And it seems bad but suck it up for 65 marks to buy an item. Prolly only an hour or two of play if lucky. Then use vanguard for rest of gear. Or hope for drops

The only reason most people stay with a faction is for the shaders and the ship but they have some good weapons you can get.
