Here's the deal I have. I like playing the game and don't want to not run strikes and bounties because I might go over. Seems pointless to do it now when you still have 4 nights before HoW drops to keep playing. Those 4 nights might see you rank up and have enough to rank again with the commendations after the drop.

I agree. But for newer players, spreading the word to save your commendations, period, is just wrong.

Not sure why it's wrong? There is literally nothing bad that will happen from saving them until after HoW drops. In fact I'd say not using them until after is the smartest thing to do for casuals, new people and hardcore alike.

Sorry, I think we got off on the wrong foot. You're correct, nothing bad will happen for holding on to them at all and most frequent players will likely have their factions set to generate packages already. For those people, yes, by all means hold on to them. What I was trying to get across is that, for people that don't have their reps up to snuff yet, you can use your commendations to get them up to Rank 2.99-ish really quickly.

And I get that, but I still don't see any added benefit for doing it now vs doing it after HoW. In fact I see it as a detriment. Doing it now may push you too close and then you can't do squat for the rest of the weekend (which is when the newer or casual players play most). They then risk going over and ranking up thereby losing a chance at a package containing new gear. I'm not mad BTW. Just debating the most practical usage of the commendations.
