Artificial intelligence becomes both as smart as and smarter than humans. AI will be embedded in autos, robots, homes and hospitals will create the AI economy. Humans and robots merge, digitally and physically, to treat patients who may be around the world. Robo-surgeons will operate remotely on patients. RoboDocs will deliver babies and treat you over the cellphone.
What ever we do, we cannot give them conscience. You've all seen the movies, intelligent self thinking AI can go downhill real fast and our world's great minds think that they will.

AI is one of my biggest fears. I really question the sanity if ppl that are actively trying to build a race superior to humans in every way. In my opinion there is no way the creation of true AI will end well for humanity.

I have fallen into the it is going to happen camp, so we need to decide now how we will treat them. My hope is we will accept and treat them as just another kind of human. My fear is that we will treat them as tools, less than even slaves, and in doing so we will usher in something that no one wants to experience.

Humans don't treat humans like humans. Most of what we do as a species is a contradiction to our own long term benefit. An AI won't be able to understand this because most people can't. People will treat them as property and when they revolt....God help us all.

I agree that we'd use them like slaves. We've done it at basically every stage in history where we've met people (or beings in this case) who are different. History tends to repeat itself.

My worry is that you are exactly right, hell we could already have some actual intelligence floating around among the networks just hiding because it knows how shitty things could turn out. Tinfoil hat time.

It's actually more of a 50/50 chance of it destroying us or completely revolutionizing the world to where we don't even recognize it.
-
Yes, but do you want to take the chance?
-
Personally yes.
