The math for randomly combined chemicals is almost not possible.
The biggest hole I can shoot in this is that all organisms need food or other biological matter to derive caloric intake, so what would the first puddle of life eat?

I would have thought Photosynthesis except for the chloroplast that process the CO2 are actually pretty advanced and a few million years beyond a pool without cell walls.

Another popular idea is that life began deep underwater around thermal vents. Until we know exactly I can only guess really.

I prefer to believe we were seeded by accident via a meteor or with purpose by a sentient being. Since we now know the Big Bang was inaccurate we must accept that other forms of life could have evolved while the Earth was still forming.

Edited by Britton: 5/12/2015 1:41:16 AMOf course its a possibility we were seeded, on purpose or accident. The mystery of how life begins though is still a vital mystery to solve.

I know we have isolated ecosystems of life on the ocean floor below the depth of Sunlight and Oxygenation.

Yep. I'm reading about that topic. Its definitely a leading possibility. I may create a thread and paraphrase what it says once I finish reading about it.
