Part of a FPS is not being able to see what's behind you. Third person view would change the game completely. If you've tried playing GTA 5 in first person after playing for months in 3rd person, then you know what I'm talking about. First person GTA is harder in almost every way.

AS IN PERMANENT 3RD PERSON and u can have the option to play in 1st person. Damn, some of you are so f**g close minded!

Lol it's not closed minded.... 3rd person players would have an advantage over 1st person players simply based on screen view-ability. 3rd person has a much wider peripheral vision (obviously) and you can see what's happening behind you without turning around. So there are clear gameplay advantages when talking about 3rd person gaming. In an online multiplayer game, the way you play the game affects everyone playing with you. Gameplay must be equal and fair. You can like it or hate it; that's just the way it needs to be. So no they would, could, and should not give a third person option. Did you even read my first post before commenting?

For the record, I'd like a challenge and I wouldn't give a rats ass if he or she was playing in 1st or 3rd in PVP. But, that's just me. I don't complain unlike other spoiled players here.

  • GTA has never been my cup of tea. But I do remember playing Star Wars Battlefront 2's first person view option and I gotta admit it was definitely trickier.

  • Food for thought though Jareids; this might sound silly so humor me for a bit. Since TPV (third person view) can give players better peripheral version than those who use FPV (first person view), how would you balance the two camera views so that such advantages like better peripheral vision don't become an issue? For me the only solution I can come up with would be giving the TPV a slightly weaker depth perception and less sharpness in far distances; making it a bit of a double-edged sword kind of option.
