First, the story that lead me to this very generous guardian. Big post coming.
I had just logged onto Destiny to check Xur's wares Friday morning. Thunderlord? Amazing! Obsidian Mind!? Great! Just a couple little problems though. I only had 24 Coins. I doubt I'd use the Thunderlord much, as I have a bunch of exotics left to level, and two that I use very frequently (Bad Juju and Invective). When would I ever be able to level T-lord?
Maybe I should buy Obsidian Mind? But I couldn't! I didn't own The Dark Below. I had roughly $9.20 in my PSN account, which by itself isn't enough. And $11 isn't a lot of money, but I simply couldn't afford that. I recently had a large sum of unexpected expenses, so all my leftover money had to go to bills, food, and gas. Entertainment budget: gone.
I went to GameFAQs.com to tell my story. Xur has an amazing exotic Heavy, but I'm so overloaded with unleveled exotics that buying it would be almost a waste. And the other awesome stuff? I didn't have the money to buy the DLC to get it, so I was probably going to leave Xur empty handed.
Here's the amazing part. A few people responded telling me to get Thunderlord. I expected that advice. But here's what I didn't expect. Two separate users replied to my thread and said they'd offer to pay up the difference so I can buy The Dark Below. I thought that sounded nice, but I made the thread to relate my story and not beg or ask for help. It was supposed to be like a "Oh hey! Sucky luck, right?" topic. Plus I'm not exactly desperate for TDB, at least not so desperate I'd let perfect strangers buy it for me.
In thread I said, "If you were actually being serious, that'd be nice." Because I was skeptical. Random guys offering money on the net? Yeah, no way that could go wrong.
Then I PM'd both users to tell them no thanks. I wouldn't feel comfortable with their CC info and they shouldn't buy a PSN card for me because $20 was too much to ask of them or anyone else.
Only one user responded, and he said that it'd be no problem, that he'd buy a card after work and send me the code. I was shocked. "Is this guy for real?"
I told the guy that it's okay and he doesn't have to, but he responded with something that still has me absolutely blown away. He told me, "No worries bro I have no problem helping a fellow gamer enjoy a great game."
I elaborated on my recent expenses for him (car maintenance and repairs, if you're curious) and he said he has an older car, so he knows what that's like. I logged off GameFAQs and went about my day. Around 6-7pm I log back in and have a message. That user I just talked to actually just sent me a code. I'm shocked and amazed. Copied the code, entered it on the PlayStation store site, and it was a legit $20 card.
After I entered it and bought TDB I messaged him back to tell him how much I appreciate what he just did. Because seriously, you don't often see random acts of kindness on the net. He replied and told me it was no problem! Enjoy Thunderlord and have fun.
I'm seriously amazed! I've never experienced something like that before. This guy has such love for Destiny and gaming in general that he actually went out and bought a $20 PSN card for me so I could get the loot I wanted and enjoy Destiny even more. He did that for a perfect stranger. This guy deserves recognition for that, and I want to post his PSN ID or GameFAQs name here for that purpose, but I can see how that might be dangerous for him, so I can't.
He knows what happened! And if you're seeing this, Guardian, then let me say again how much I appreciate what you did. You restored some of my faith in humanity and I hope to someday pay it forward.

I'd do something like that, it's sad when other guardians are stuck in a rut and nobody helps them get gear or weapons..
-
Wow that is awesome! You don't run into people like that now a days, let alone in person, but on a game console; RARE. I'm glad you now can enjoy The Dark Below.....Game On Guardian!

Pretty awesome

Great story! Thanks for sharing... Makes me want to do the same for someone someday. I'll be keeping my ears open.

This is a really great story brother. That Guardian deserves all the best in life for his kindness towards others. He is a champion in my book and I really wish I could play with him (provided he is a PS4 gamer) because I just know I would love knowing a great person like that. And no, I don't need his help getting the DLC as I already have it lol.

That's real inspirational.. My faith in humanity has gone from -100 to +50 :3

That's pretty cool I wish there were more people like that

Never mind

How you have a leval 5 and ten

So awesome. Great gesture from him and it's really nice that you're so appreciative. Definitely pay it forward. Doesn't have to be money, maybe help a low level get some coins for a sweet exotic they can enjoy! Enjoy TDB and thunderlord :)
-
Pay forward what you received. Well not in the exact way. But always give a helping hand to those that need it.
-
Right in the feels... No one makes me feel my own feels!!
-
Gratz to you and kudo's for him. He sounds like an awesome dude.
-
That is pretty amazing of him.. Made me wana shed a tear.. Not gonna lie. Just gotta pay it forward. One act of kindness at a time. I'm looking to help some random guardian. I'll be doing a HoW giveaway on twitch. Not here to promote myself. I'm just saying.
