Random LOOT drops, and how to Fix the Loot System (rolling)

I love this idea

keep it the way it is

Ok, so those of you who play MMO's already know how /rolling works. For those that don't, when loot drops at the end of a Mission/Raid... it's basically in a Pool of loot available to all who desire to Roll on said item if they need it. You basically roll virtual dice and get a number between 1 and 10 (or whatever) and whoever gets the higher roll wins the item. (this is the basic concept, and below i'll describe how it would play out in Destiny) The way it would work in Destiny is for Loot items that normally drop to an individual... ONLY at the end of a Raid, Mission, Crucible Match, Weekly, Nightfall, or Strike. If in Raids it would also be implemented on Section completions that offer loot drops. So... let's say at the end of a Strike, the 3 Guardians beat the strike, and at the mission end screen all 3 Guardians see their stats. Well, instead of a Random drop going to a Random person... It would still be Random drops... but each item of Loot would be rolled to see who gets the loot item. So let's say Red Death Drops... and 1 Guardian already has it... he could choose the option to NOT Roll for that item, because there is no need to. This gives the other 2 Guardians a chance to obtain that item, an Item the need or desperately want, instead of the guardian who already has it getting lucky yet again, and then turning it into scraps. This shares the Wealth of Loot around the community of Destiny much better than HOPING to be the lucky one. This process would work this way in all the above mentioned game modes of Destiny. Each Guardian would have the choice to Roll on all items dropped or to Not Roll. If both guardians already have Red death, then the one who doesn't gets their dream come true, and Finally obtains it without any resistance. This implementation fixes 2 issues (amongst others), but 2 specific ones. Trading, and Crucible complaints the worst player gets the loot. The Roll system is kinda like trading... because if you already have it, don't roll it, and it will go to someone who doesn't have it. and as for the... "I was the best in the Crucible match" and the lowest person got the Best drop". If the best person, already had that item, it isn't a big deal... BUT if he didn't... then he would have the Exact same chance to Roll on the item as EVERYONE else in the match, regardless of how poorly or how well someone did. This stays true to the idea Bungie wants everyone to have a chance to get loot, not just the Rich, getting Richer! So.. answer the poll, and add comments or suggestions and if enough of us like this idea, maybe Bungie can add it in. It would be very easy to incorporate a /ROLL type system in this game

  • I say keep it the way it is...not even sure if that's the way it works now or maybe I misunderstood what you were saying but my understanding of this RNG system is its more like a slot machine that has everything that can drop in the machine, once you complete the activity the game pulls the lever and whatever it lands on is what you get. That works for me bc I don't want to have to worry about saying yes or no to whether I want to be in a certain roll. Just my opinion and I'd rather just leave it the way it is then try this crazy ( just my opinion) idea of RNG drops. I would rather see trading immediately after the rewards screen between fireteam members than this.
