silliness for a deadline. if you had a character created already, it should have just gone to your ingame mailbox and been waiting for you the next time you logged on...whenever that is. It's not like its actually costing them anything to give you this ingame appearance item. Its a reward for buying the game ahead of time and boost sales. i don't believe the ghost skin and ship ingame items had a time limit on them but i guess i could be wrong on that.
