Crucible Sniping Question

For you PvP snipers out there what are the pros and cons for the Longbow Synthesis (specifically the one on my 32 Warlock) and Praedyth's Revenge when compared to each other? Edit: thanks for the help guys, I think I'll stick with my longbow based on what I've seen. Another thing that I would like to know is what kind of primaries round out a sniper build?

  • If you can get a prudence with the right rolls it's probably the best pvp sniper in the game.

    • With longbow you can snipe bladedancers and warlocks that use fireborn with one headshot.

    • Longbow synthesis has better aim assist, you can one shot arcblade, self res warlocks, and one shot people through revive overshield in skirmish. There's also alot more pressure when you hit a bodyshot, since one bullet from almost any gun is gonna one shot after that. For 6v6 and rumble( if you really want to snipe in rumble :p) praedyths is better.

    • Praedyths revenge is probably the best pvp sniper. Impact is irrelevant for pvp. All OHK to the head and 2 shot kill to the body. Praedyths has max stability, fast rof, ambush (low zoom scope), and a 6 round mag. It's perfect in every way. It's not that great in PvE due to the low impact.

PR has great RoF and stability which makes twoshotting people quite easy, but Longbow has one of the highest aim assist for snipers, meaning easier quick scoping and tracking a target's head, allowing for more headshots. Double down and Final round are great together, so I'd say longbow is a better option.

        • The longbow has lots of aim assist. Praedyth has almost none. I prefer praedyth.

          • Basically, for PvP it is good to have a high ROF, so praedyths is quite good, and it has 6 in the mag. Efrideets is good off you get final round, its a one shot body kill on the last round.

              • What kind of sniper are you? I prefer to snipe from a stationary position. At targets that are usually slow-moving and clustered together. So I prefer slow-firing, high-impact rifles. I'm a menace on Shores of Time during IB with my Ice Breaker. Headshot? Clean kill. Body shot? If your less than lvl 32 in IB, your still dead. If your lvl 32 or regular Crucible, you'll survive...barely. But you'll be more concerned with finding cover instead of hunting me down. If you want to be more mobile, hit faster moving targets, or lack confidence in your ability to headshot go with one with lower impact and a faster fire rate. They usually have higher stability so you can put more fire down range with accuracy.

I'm a believer in synthesis. But I started out using preadyths. Which is like a long range scout rifle. I'm not Chris Kyle but I'm Improving. I do not like the LDR or Icebreaker at all. P&t is also really good

                • Those are among the best rolls you can get. The PR will have better stability and ROF, but I'd choose your Longbow for PvP every day of the week.

                • Well your longbow has final round which is a one hit kill. And you could get ammo on spawn. But PR has such a high stability that it's easy to hit two shots back to back and get the kill. And firefly is great when the enemy is trying to get heavy and they are piled closed together. It's really how you play. Can you hit headshots easy then use longbow but if not then use PR

Praedyths is good for non revive like clash and control. Longbow is far better for skirmish/elimination/salvage. This is because longbow let's you one hit kill on a headshot through revive shields. Personally I prefer the longbow for all of crucible, due to its higher impact and solid fire rate and stability. It's just a great all round sniper. A perfect longbow imo has double down, field scout and probably outlaw as the last perk, or unflinching. I recommend finding True Vanguards sniping tutorial videos and general videos, he has some great info on this topic and is a superb sniper.

                  • If you're new to sniping, try out the longbow because of it's high aim assist!
