No, sorry but I can't condone any more nerf puffballs being thrown in this game. However I do get what your saying and I would call it reissuing. The thorn was a decent weapon before the mega buff. It (like so many other weapons) only had one argument for needing a buff, the Suros. With that no longer being the god weapon it used to be the buffs for the thorn and last word are incredibly unnecessary. These are the lowest impact had cannons out there and should behave accordingly with needing four head shots to kill in the crusible. Bump for weapons to work the stats tell us they do!!!

8 RepliesPermanently ban anyone who asks for a nerf. Yes or no? I vote yes.

Here's the thing that blows my mind... There's no nice way to say it: people are stupid. Thorn was always a good weapon for PvP. It was always a two headshot kill. The things they buffed (reload speed/stability) were not huge game changers for the way the weapon performed in PvP. Increasing its mag size to 9 is actually stealth balance, because now it takes longer to get to Final Round, if you do at all. As it is, Thorn's range/stability are in line with other Hand Cannons, with your mid-tier perks allowing you to customize the weapon for user preference. What changed is that before it was buffed, few people finished the Thorn bounty, because all they ever heard was "Thorn sucks." There were only a few voices in the wilderness (see what I did there?) who would tell people, it's actually pretty good in PvP, give it a try. Once Thorn was buffed, the herd mentality took over and everyone started using Thorn. It's like Auto Rifles. I don't care what anyone says, Auto Rifles are still viable PvP weapons, but no one uses them now because they heard "nerf" and abandoned the weapon. Same with Fusion Rifles.
Only a damage drop off, thing is beating out scout rifles at a scout rifle range when they should be geared more to AR/pulse rifle range. Personally love the gun, but I wouldn't be surprised if this happens
-
Thorn is fine. People suck.
-
2 RepliesOkay. So say Thorn gets nerfed, then what happens? Everyone grabs a Scout Rifle and the cycle starts again, then Scouts get nerfed. Then I suppose Pulse Rifles become the next vestige, and then they get nerfed, which leads us back to Auto Rifles, and by now the average TTK of an exotic weapon is ten minutes providing your quarry is good enough to standstill while you kill him.
I am undecided. Before I was a die hard "Don't nerf Thorn" but I am also a reasonable person. While I have no problems countering Thorn with superior gunplay, Thorn presents problems that it shouldn't if balance is what Bungie seeks. Personally, I stay behind cover, strafe, aim for the head while being unpredictable to beat a Thorn user. While I can beat it with planning, I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to change my strategy to counter a specific weapon. On the other side of the coin, the Thorn user doesn't have to take such precautions. They have the upper hand in a standard gunfight unless the prey takes the necessary precautions to even the odds. No other weapon makes me change my engagement plans (except the Last Word but that's because it only excels at a certain range). And if balance is what Bungie seeks, then Thorn should be looked at and nerf'd carefully. I'm not saying it's unbeatable, because it's not. I can beat it with any given primary exotic that's not an auto rifle, no land beyond or universal remote in a reasonable amount of time. But what I am saying is that it is some levels ahead of other exotics. Thorn has little weakness contrary to every other exotic primary and using one already gives you an edge on the competition. With all this said. If they asked me to nerf it, I wouldn't make such drastic changes as some of these anti-thorn people are. I would simply tone down the poison to 4 or even 3. It just doesn't seem fair to hit someone twice in the head and run. But it also doesn't sound fair to reduce the gun's stats so that no one wants to use it. *cough SUROS Regime* I will be just fine if they don't nerf it. I will continue to excel in the cruicble. However if balance is the end goal here, rationally it should be nerf'd but only in a small way like I suggested.
5 RepliesThorn needs no nerf. Hate to say this, anyone that says a gun needs a nerf are WEAKLING! I dont complain about a gun being OP because I know I'm a weakling, I died in Crucible because I'm careless. Besides the lag, why dont we play pvp with an attitude of "oh shit I lost. Better luck next time."?
-
1 ReplyAs much as I don't like nerfing things, Thorne needs to be adjusted. It has over-centralized pvp to the point where people are specifically planning against it, instead of using things to enhance their own play style. I have the Thorne, and I love it, but it certainly needs adjusting.
-
I don't own Thorn, and it should be left alone, along with everything else.
-
5 Repliesit's simple.. don't render the gun useless.. just edit it so that poison disappears if the thorn user dies.. therefore: if you out-gun thorn.. you live.. if thorn user out-guns you .. you die.. that's fair.
-
3 RepliesYou actually need skill (or at least good luck) to two shot someone. Sure blasting a near death Guardian with the DoT and running away waiting for a kill can be cheap, but they were about to die anyway.
-
1 ReplyI don't own one but in working on it the only thing I see wrong with it is the poison is a bit strong other than that I think it's better than last word

Bump to prove a point.
