Speaking only for myself, often when I play I am in a position where I am unable to speak (people sleeping/working/etc.). So I always message people to let them know that while I can't speak, I am experienced and can hear them to follow any directions as needed. Plus I try to communicate via dancing (Yes) and waving (No).
For me, most raiders don't seem to mind my silence, provided I don't do anything noobish, which I think is fair. But those who don't even give me a chance to prove anything is frustrating. It usually means a longer search for a team.

I'm in between don't care as long as they can hear and must communicate. Honestly it pisses me off when they can't communicate, go buy a 15$ pair of headphones from Marshalls and plug it in, communication is key to victory and I want you to talk. That being said if I know the person and raid with them and know they can handle their own but their mic broke and they're saving for a headset or whatever I'd absolutely forgive that.
