Article was proven to be fake by BUNGIE. Nothing to see here, move along.

Do you have proof of this statement? In all fairness he provided a statement backed up with a source. Ergo I am more inclined to believe OP than you, unless you can also provide proof backing your claim.

Read Bungies post on the forums 3 months ago. His link is to yahoo which is known to be false when my source is bungie itself. Please do your research before posting such an idiotic statement.

Oh look, it's retarded...

I will say again: do you have proof of this statement? Telling me to go search through millions of posts or search the internet is not the same as simply posting the link supporting your claim. OP presented an argument supported with a source. You posted an argument, told me to go find a link FOR you, then proceeded to insult me. Please understand the concept of proper citation before resulting in ad hominem attacks. If you wrote a research paper in college with no sources, and your professor asked what your sources were, and you told him / her "you go look it up", you would likely: 1) Fail the assignment 2) Fail the course 3) Get expelled from the university for plagarism and poor academic integrity So, one last time I will ask: do you have an actual source? If so please post it to validate your argument; otherwise I am forced to regard your reply as "opinion".

Okay fun story but before I go into my experience I will state that you are correct 99.99999% of the time. I plagiarized 40% of a paper, straight up copy and paste. It was a bs class I needed for my associates. Instructor gave me a 60% and told me to rewrite it from scratch. I ended the semester with a B- and a 3.0 gpa. I got really lucky. Sorry just wanted to share. The instructor can choose the punishment. But I did not fail the paper, fail the class, nor was I expelled. Should I have been? Probably, but I did do the work eventually. That's what should happen, imo. Expulsion is a little harsh, and failing the class because of one poor decision? Depends on the student. I felt my 60% was a fair deal.

Edited by JSDFREEDOM89: 5/1/2015 10:32:49 PMBack when I was in college if the professor caught you plagiarizing part an assignment (even accidentally) you failed the class and got an "X" meaning you failed the course, could not drop the course, could not utilize the grade forgiveness program, could not recover your GPA, and likely were ineligible to complete your chosen major program. If they could prove you did it maliciously and intentionally they would sit you in front of a committee and hold an expulsion hearing. If 75% of the committee found you guilty, you were expelled from the university immediately. You could never attend that university again. You could not appeal the decision. And your money was gone. Plus you were labled as "unethical" thereby trashing you on your future resumes and employment opportunities. Yeah... my university didn't f*** around when it came to cheating. Though I did have a roommate pay me $300 to write a paper for him. Bastard got a 94% on it... I only got a 91% on mine. Yeah, I wasn't too happy... until he gave me those three Benjamin's.

I have no doubts that's what my university does. I'm glad I was in community college when I made that mistake, plus I had a good report with my instructor. Serious shīt.

Most colleges do. One course I had a professor utilize a website called turnitin.com for all assignments. Whatever percentage of your paper was reported "plagarized" you received a deduction in points before the professor even graded it (stupid site said my paper was 1.5% plagarized because apparently I wrote one sentence the same way a research article was written... bastard). If your paper read as more than 20% plagarized, he threw the book at you. 7 people out of a class of 75 were expelled from the university.
-
We use that site currently. My last paper required 15+ sources, I ended with a 17.5% similarity. It was all of my quotes and citations. Oh and the words "it can be derived" nothing else. I really hate seeing such a high percentage, but actually doing the assignment properly!

Edited by JSDFREEDOM89: 5/1/2015 10:45:19 PMSorry... but that is a bulls*** site. What happened to professors actually doing their jobs and double checking the sources and citations in a student's work? P.S. This has gone way off topic from the original discussion lol
-
Haha I understand that it may be difficult to track down every possible website that a student can steal from, but counting the citations or something in quotes? That site aggrevates me to no end. This has gone quite off topic, but at least we aren't arguing about sociopolitical frameworks!
