My dad says, with stuff like this there's usually a hidden catch, for example to make a Prius battery takes a giant amount of energy, and disposing of it is difficult. So like, in this case do they need to use electricity to turn the stuff into diesel? If so the electricity may be from coal or whatever.
But if that's not a big factor, this sounds really exciting! My car isn't a diesel but I thought about a diesel when I got it so I know they aren't rare.

Yes, it needs electricity. But electricity can come from a plethora of renewable energy sources.

It can but does it? :) I mean sometimes yes sometimes no. What if it took more energy to make the diesel than the diesel contains lol. It would make more sense to get an electric car then. But I am curious about this, if it takes say, a tenth as much energy to make it as it contains, that would be awesome.

In Germany, where this is being made, they get a very large percentage of the county's electricity from wind and solar.

America needs to be like that. And... you know... those other Not-America countries.

All countries are part of america. They just don't know it yet. MURICA.
