I'm gonna start reading some of the halo books in preparation for Halo 5. What books should I put on my required reading list?
Edit : just bought the first volume of escalation, gonna buy the second after I'm done with this.

1 ReplyI also need the list. I know I have most of them though.

ALL OF THEM. Read every single god damn one. Start with Fall of Reach. Read them in release order from there on out till you get to New Blood.
-
Read the comic series of "Fall of Reach" the book just dose not do it justice.
-
2 RepliesDefinitely read the forunner saga. (Cryptum, primordial, and silentium) the forunners have more directly involved than before.
-
1 ReplyFall of reach is my favorite
-
4 RepliesI'm thinking of reading the books. In what order should I start? Is there like certain books that absolutely should not be read?
-
13 RepliesSome of them are terrible. Most are generic pulp sci-fi. A few are good. One is great.

1 ReplyI'd start with Contact Harvest, Cole Protocol, and then Fall of Reach. Those three establish the entire Halo background up to the first game.
-
1 ReplyThe Fall of Reach is a MUST read. It explains the backstory of Master Chief, which is extremely important for understanding halo 5's plot. It also includes important events that aren't seen in the games, such as Operation: TREBUCHET and the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV.

7 RepliesFall of Reach First Strike Contact Harvest Ghosts of Onyx Glasslands The Thursday War Mortal Dictata. You can check out the Forerunner trilogy by Greg Bear if you want, but I found them to be a bit dry.
-
4 RepliesTo be honest, all of them Except for Contact Harvest are necessary to understand the tie-in between games and cutscenes. The Forerunner Saga is great to read (its the first story in the Halo story before the Master Chief story). The Forerunner Saga is good to understand the underlying plot of the whole Halo Franchise and alot of Halo 4 as well.

Listen to Lord of Admirals (Forthencho). He know his Halo. I have read some of those books, Forerunner Saga is particularly good, a really good read.

15 RepliesFor Halo 5? Halo: New Blood Halo: Escalation (All the issues you can get your hands on) Halo: Hunters in the Dark There's more books coming out later this year, we just don't know what they're really about yet. Also, the Kilo-5 Trilogy and the Forerunner Saga greatly tie into Halo 4, but more importantly, they build the foundation of the Reclaimer Saga.

8 RepliesAll it them. They all connect somehow It's like a giant jigsaw... Can't miss one piece
