I only care when people want to drag their faith into politics and schools.

There's this great thing called "separation of Church and State" that the govt is supposed to follow, I hear.

Edited by Britton: 4/26/2015 5:10:23 AMIts supposed to be followed but people keep voting for politicians who want to break that.

Exactly!

*cough, cough* (Mitt Romney!)

Faith actually needs to be involved in politics and school. Faith installs good morals in people and teaches them to care for others. Not everyone follows thoes teachings but thoes that do are generally good people.

It is in the U.S. constitution that house and religion should never mix

Yah I know that but I think it should.

Well.... Except for the crusades, Spanish inquisitions, stonings, slavery, manslaughter, and burnings. Religion really doesn't have a place in our government, just because it teaches some good morals, which we already know. Try to look at it from both sides, and you'll find that there are plenty of horrible consequences. Example: Ceacaucheski, ruler of Romania, outlawed abortion due to religious beliefs. Men and women were forced to get married and settle down. As time went by, the crime rate got much higher. This was because couples who did not want children but had to generally didn't treat their unwanted kids too well. This led to many more messed up kids, who would commit criminal acts out of anger. Also, there would be a much higher number of kids born with genetic birth defects if abortion was outlawed. They wouldn't live very good lives, would they? You see, there are pros and cons too all things. Nothing is one-sided.

Edited by The Stranger: 4/25/2015 11:26:44 PMNo, whilst faith is generally a good thing, it does not teach good morals. Your culture teaches you morals based on the cultures morals. If you come from from a Christian background hen you will learn Christian morals. Most people have a similar moral code (at least on the big things) so they would get instilled regardless. And in politics? No way. Never. Once religion gets brought into politics things can go very wrong, very fast.

Culture teaches morals good and bad yes but religion does too. Christianity teaches alot of good lessons and morals that people should pick up on, but because it's not practiced often it is basically irrelevant. Our culture changes alot. Before slavery was a good thing now it's a bad thing. Christianity taught that people are equal should be kind to one another our culture taught not everyone is deserves the same basic rights. All I'm saying is that religions like Christianity teach good morals to people.

Actually Christianity was used as justification for the slave trade, even in the early 20th century people where quoting the fall of Canaan as proof of gods acceptance of slaves.

Wrong, faith doesn't teach good morals. Having good morals teaches good morals.
