People are always arguing that only science or a God can be true. Not both, but why not both? I mean how could all that we know as our universe just "BE" without atleast a small nudge from a God? Perhaps he set things in motion and then took a step back to let things naturally run their course?
I'm not very religious and i don't know the bible inside and out, but wasn't the sun created on like the 3rd day or something to that effect?
And if we use the sun to tell what is 1 day, then couldn't the first days have been thousands or millions of years?
Just a thought...
Like i said i'm not that religious so i'm sure i'm missing things, but maybe some of you guys can offer some more knowledgable opinions?

They could, I think. At least now, science can not prove intelligent life forms, so if something communicates without "talking" we seem them as beings without intellectual power. It goes the same way with gods. Gods most likely wouldn't be solid things, more as they are the heat, and the waves, which science deems "inanimate"
-
Science can pretty much never prove religious beliefs right or wrong. For example The Big Bang. We have ideas, but we don't know for sure

>literally deism Thanks OP for confirming your age to be under the high school level.

1 ReplyUm well Einstein managed it. Contest exactly what he meant by God all you like but God is God nonetheless.
-
You know what? Let's say there are aliens. Yes, aliens, but almighty. They created many different gods and science. Then assigned people to those gods and religions.
-
By definition they can't really. Religion is putting your faith in something without proof while science is about trying to find the truth. Only if science proves that God is real can the 2 coexist. But what it really comes down to is people willing to coexist, and I think they are. So the answer is also yes.

Why doesn't magic believing religion stay in its corner and let the big boys of science figure it out?

2 RepliesNo. Science paints god into a corner. We used to not know anything about the natural world, so we created gods that explain natural phenomena (Zeus-lightning, Poseidon-ocean, etc). We used to just say "god did it." Now that isn't the case.

1 ReplyFor them to coexist God would need to be real
so no
-
2 RepliesJust so everyone knows, I love science

God: the original scientist. Everything God does follows laws of science, and uses natural and scientific mechanisms. Evolution was the mechanism by which he created man. Just because we don't know all the laws he operates by doesn't mean they don't exist.

7 RepliesI find that a very deep question. I'm an atheist, so i believe more in science. But i have my own belief of how we got here. I think that somewhere in the great void that is space there is a strange race that has been alive since the Big Bang. They wanted to replicate their own genetic code, but they kept making Mistakes. These Mistakes were the reasons why the mass extinctions happened until they created us. We haven't had an extinction level event in a while, which i think is because those beings are watching us and are afraid to wipe us out because we are their greatest achievements. Let me know what you guys think.

Sure, absolutely. All the god has to do is exist, and anyone following the scientific method will look at the evidence and conclude that it does. There are many fictional universes where this is the case: Discworld, Yozakura Quartet for example. Game of Thrones is an interesting one, because the Lord of Light clearly and demonstrably does exist, but that doesn't seem to convince anyone.

1 ReplyI believe there had to be some sort of Creator but I don't believe in religion. Can't wait to see what the world of science can dig up in my life time.
-
1 ReplyActually science points towards God. Science could never disprove he exists

Carbon is god

It's not like our galaxy even matters. No one here abides by the rules, and we all hate eachother. We are a failed project.
-
2 RepliesNo. You can't fully be on sciences side and still fully believe God. There's always going to be something that makes you have doubts about the other.
-
2 RepliesYes, but people of religious and non-religious beliefs can't. I mostly blame the atheists for this (not all of them, just the loud minority of them who think they're better than everyone else.).

Would it hurt Jesus if it rained?

The way I see it, God created the universe through the big bang as an experiment. Now He's just observing what's happening.
