I don't think they should. That's the only think that makes you take your time in creating new characters. You're not supposed to be done in a day with a fresh character. Supposed to last a while. Class materials help extend that time.

If that is their reasoning or rational I would be fine with it, but if that is the case, not sure why they would make the changes to the Speaker and allow trading of Shards for other materials etc. Seems like they are encouraging people to get to the end game as fast as possible. I would think that the better way to slow people's progression is not by creating economic restrictions, but a more positive restraint such as choice. Create more items, armor, weapons to choose from so that people have to make more calculated decisions with their inventory. I think offering a reforge options for weapons is great from a player standpoint, but this means that they are going in the opposite direction of curbing growth. Everything they are doing with HoW seems to encourage and promote quick growth, not hinder it.

I think you're looking at it backwards. Radiant materials are from an end game activity. Ascendant materials are most commonly obtained from an end game activity. Motes are acquired over time out from engrams, mostly obtained from end game activities. Legendary weapons are most commonly obtained from end game activities. It's not promoting getting to end game faster, it's promoting customization after you've already reached end game activities.

I would agree with that if those Radiant and ascendant materials weren't necessary to reach level caps with the limited armor options currently available. I think it is great that HoW is going to allow the upgrading of our favorite armor sets to the cap, but again, that just means that having those options available encourages quicker growth. I do agree in part with what you are saying though. I just wish it was more clear from Bungie if this was an oversight, or if their intention was to limit class resources for this purpose. Thanks for the insight though. Definitely an alternate opinion I hadn't considered.
