Tell me how, objectively, to measure "skill", and then how to keep the game from turning into a festival of kill-stealing.

  • Get loot from activities, not from "looting" fallen mobs you killed. There are so many ways this, or other methods could be implemented, but won't, because Bungie needs the GRIND to keep this game alive.

  • Currently, the higher difficulty the activity, the better chance for rewards. What I usually see is people complaining, "I had 300 kills and only got shards, while 'X' had 50 kills and got Hawkmoon! Skill is not rewarded!" That's where the OP was going, I believe, so that's what I was responding to. But the guy with 50 kills may have been putting all his rounds onto the high-level boss targets, where the complainer was shooting the mooks for easy kills. Not an objective measure of each one's skill. So, to me, random reward is more fair than giving better rewards to whoever has the most kills, no matter what those kills consisted of.

  • Making skill rewards depend on only one variable would be ridiculous. But they could factor in survival time, revives, precision kills, chain precision kills... It's not hard. Use your imagination. Saying "RNG is good because I can't think of another loot system and thinking is hard" is barely an excuse. They just want to give people the run around, chasing a few stupid exotics so they keep playing a game with barely any content.

  • They COULD do all those things. I like to think I have a fairly high skill level because I put most of my effort into defeating the strike boss. But it might be a big hairy deal programming a reward system to judge performance in those terms, and still people would disagree with the criteria and complain. I didn't say whether RNG is good, just better than the most commonly suggested alternative here on the forums.

  • Dude, of course randomness is better than anything proposed here; these forums are full of idiots, me included. It's not our job to come up with a reward system tho, just to point out that this one sucks. And ps, destiny isn't true RNG. It's called PLS, private loot stream. Google it. It explains why people get 10x NLB and no gjally for months/years haha
