Why cant we use armor slots for weapons?

My weapon section is full even after the update but Ive got 16 empty armor slots* and 2 empty general slots so that could be another 18+ slots for weapons(or it could be the other way around if someone stockpiles thousands of materials** or something) *I could easily have 24 empty armor slots I really only use put stuff in there so I have room for engrams **Thats another thing why is the cap on regular materials 200 per slot but then the ascendant mat cap is 370+(not sure what it is because ive never hit the cap) Before anyone says "ooooommmmmmgggg the update just came out and ur complanning!!!11111111111" this is not intended to be a complaining thread its a genuine question If the amount of vault spaces available comes down to server space(doubt it) or if it really is just limited by the 360/ps3(why should that impact xb1/ps4?) then why not make the vault more efficient? The system has to still work if all slots are full otherwise the update wouldnt have come out so whats the difference between 84 gjallarhorns, 84 hunter cloaks, 84 stacks of heavy ammo, or a mix of it all? Do weapons have significantly more data than armor/items? Could we take 16 armor slots and turn it into 8 weapon slots?
