-I would like to start by pointing out that I have little knowledge of how the game works and ticks on the inside, I simply have played the game basically to completion and have spent many hours frustrated with certain aspects of the game and have imagined some simple and possible solutions.
-The guys at bungee have been hard at work finding a solution for one of our biggest issues so far... Vault space! Thankfully and finally a solution has been found and it's currently on its way to us!
-The fix is as follows
"Update 1.1.2 will push the boundaries of your secure repository. The new dimensions will let you store twenty-four (24) ARMOR pieces, thirty-six (36) WEAPONS, and twenty-four (24) GENERAL items."
-84 items in total.
-This fix will work for now, but what about the 10 year future of destiny?
-Obviously more dlc means more armor, more exotic weapons, more legendary weapons , more vanguard items, new cloaks, rumored new weapon type... Where are we going to store it all?! :S
-We'll hopefully I have the solution for the long term.
-As I understand it, some of the biggest challenges the team at bungie tackled, and what caused the fix to take this long, was the fact that they can only display so many active items on screen at any one time.
-So a max of 84 items on screen at once?
-This is supported from a quote from the live team lead M.E. Chung saying
"Different players have different needs, but our goal was to find a solution that could deliver more Vault space to the greatest number of people in the short term. Our challenge was to provide an increase in storage that fit within the memory constraints that limit how many items can be displayed on one screen. "
-So what's the solution I had in mind?
-Simply have a vault tower for each dedicated category (guns, armor, general)
-Think about it, it makes sense, there is already three in the tower all with there own computer interfaces!
-In the tower when we go to the vault to admire all the loot we have acquired, we go over to three small towers, that have 3 interface computers on each side.
-I'll be referring to them as vault towers.
-If you are a visual person then please check out the picture so you know what I am referring to when I say vault towers, there are three of them towards the right side of the picture.

Why have so many vault towers that all open up to the same congested vault?
Why not make each vault tower be dedicated to each category? The outside of each vault tower could be easily distinguished from each other by adding different colored banners going down the side of each vault. The banners could feature a simplified design of the category signifying what each vault holds.
Pros and cons that I can see are as such:
Pros
- Substantially more vault space, theoretically up to 254 stored items in total!
- Prepares for a robust future of loot drops
- Gives the multiple vault towers an actual purpose and would give the tower in general a better look and feel
Cons
- Causes us the guardians to have to move slightly to the left or right to access our other items.
- Chirp... Chirp... Chirp...
-The beauty of this idea is that by shifting just a little bit of responsibility to the player to exit the weapons vault and move over to the armor vault or possibly the general vault. You eliminate the problem of having all three categories on screen at once.
Work required by bungie
- create banners to run down the side of each tower.
- split up the single vault in to three separate vaults each holding at least 84 of its item type.
-There are so many cool items to collect in destiny from white items all the way to the exotics and it feels so wrong and unfair to get that lucky low level weapon or a cool looking armor piece and have to dismantle it because we have nowhere to put it.
-Bungie has stressed that this is the best way to communicate with them so please comment and support this thread if you, the community, find this to be a good solution for the long term space problem.
