Re-Awoken: Part 2 of the beginning of my Warlocks Destiny

Still alert to the numerous enemies below, her ghost mentioned looking for weapon. Having combed the ship from top to bottom, she came across some looted weapons and used shock pistols from the Fallen Dregs. Sona began calculating which of those weapons would be closest, and of those what might be the most useful. In a hushed voice she said “Closest weapon is on a dead dreg, no telling how usable it is but it might last us long enough to get to something better.” Leading the way across the skeletal remains of fallen and hive alike her guardian followed down the corridor into a room where a dreg’s body hung from the draping banner of their house. On its belt was the shock pistol her ghost talked about. “Do you know how to use that thing?” With a roll of her head that was somewhere in between sassy and sarcastic she looked at her ghost. She kept the pistol in hand and began walking toward the next room, cautious of her surroundings. After nearly half an hour of walking, her ghost chimed in saying that it had spotted a very much worthwhile weapon in a room next to them, and even some equipment that could aid in their escape. She approached the door, pistol ready and swung it into the room sweeping from side to side to clear the room. The room was empty, save for the crates and bones littered upon the floor. Sona quickly went over to the monitor to collect data from the ship while her guardian walked to a wall loosely laden with weapons. A variety of rifles, including many human made designs likely looted from the nearby city, were scattered from wall to floor. “Before we leave I’d like to get as much data on this ship as possible so take your time.” But the awoken was already lost in thought, looking through the collection of golden age weapons before her. As she looked through the guns a memory teased at the back of her mind, something about collecting these weapons or their secrets and better understanding them. One weapon in particular caught her eye, partially covered by the other guns there was a ghoulish green vapor like light. Carefully lifting and moving the many artifacts she found what appeared to be the source, an aggressive spine running the length of the hand rail of this mid-sized gun. Just above the barrel was a bird skull, the source of this ominous misty light. Upon picking the gun up her ghost glanced over and noticed it. “Is that…” “Bad Juju, yes. It just told me its name.” “It, told you – never mind, we have to hurry, I got the ships info but I may have-” The engine roared to life, sending energy through the ships systems. Lights blinked to light and machines began to hum, alerting any still slumbering Hive to there being an intruder. “Yeeeaah, that. Let’s go!” After a slightly annoyed look she grabbed a spare gun and readied up Bad juju, only to realize it had a single small clip and none to be found on the floor. Before she could switch to another weapon a body leapt into the room, shrieking all the way in. She swiftly placed the butt of the gun to her shoulder and let the shots fly, one bullet hitting its chest, the next landing in its throat while the final one took its head. With an almost wet sounding crunch the body hit the floor, skidding just inches from her feet. “The hell was that?” She yelled to her ghost as the fled the room. “That was a thrall, one of the hive’s foot soldiers. But when there’s one, there is usually more.” Leaving the room and heading towards the stairs, three more thrall started screaming in pursuit of them, likely coming from the floor below. The awoken turned around and let out a burst for each beast, all of which hit their designated target and dropped them to the floor. “For a woman who was dead as long as you were you are shooting pretty well.” Sona Said. The awoken responded “Praise me AFTER we get out of this place.” “Right, one more level and we should have a straight shot for the door.” “Got it” she replied while jumping over a crate and the dead body leaning against it. Shrieks continued from behind them as they ran toward the stairs that would lead to their escape. “Just a warning, there is more enemy movement ahead of us.” Pulling the gun closer while gripping it tighter, she mentally prepared herself for anything they might encounter. Upon reaching eye level with the top of the stair case she realized just how unprepared she was; dozens of thrall were swarming the floor, accompanied by a floating member that glowed with a rustic orange. As if that weren’t enough they had a new type of foot soldier, 3 green glowing eyes and a triangular head piece were the most notable features in that instant. “Shit, they’ve got wizards and acolytes!” the ghost said before she could ask what they were. The enemies were somewhat caught off guard by this lone soldier, which gave her all the time she needed to spray down the thrall nearest to her. Burst after burst each of the 4 thrall fell dead on the ground. She began to feel a sensation of dread as she realized that Bad juju would be running out of ammo soon, if it hadn’t already, but surprisingly she was able to line up a new target and keep firing. Thralls continued to close the distance despite her taking out seven more since she first came up to this floor. Meanwhile the acolytes and wizards sent shots all around her, trying not to hit their own and hoping to make her flinch. Sona said “More coming up the stairs!” alerting her to the approaching threat. Pulling out the shock pistol from earlier she wielded both weapons, focusing on the enemies immediately on her floor first. Keeping up a barrage of fire on one side, the thrall from below came rushing out only to meet the shock pistol’s rounds. Admittedly this was difficult to keep up, but she could not flinch, not yet, not here. Suddenly a massive roar came from the stairs that the thrall were still flowing from. “We might want to get out of here, preferably sooner than later.” Her ghost said, with a sense of dread surprisingly active in its voice. Upon hearing this she began to focus both weapons on the way out, mowing down what she hoped were the last of the enemies between her and safety. Rushing through and leaping over the dead hive members she came face to “dress” of a hive wizard and instinctively slid under it as it was turning to fire upon her. The wizard shrieked with confusion and was about to turn around when a giant object flew into it with a loud “thump”, sending it flying on what looked like a fallen power unit. The thump shortly compounded with the secondary thud from it impacting into the wall, followed then by the detonation of the unit. Before she could look back; or even stop for that matter, Sona said “Don’t look back, you DON’T want to mess with that thing.” Curiosity ate at her but she decided it was best to follow the ghost’s request. The two continued running, passing the charred remains of the Hive wizard and dodging blasts from the few acolytes that were spared, they finally made it to the door. Part 3 will be up shortly, I over estimated the capacity of this thread so please pardon a longer than planned pause if you are on the edge of your seat. XD Part 3 will conclude this introduction.
