Do legendary and exotics only drop after your character has beat the game? I have a lvl 31 hunter that's only a week old and I have done close to 20-30 roc strikes and have not gotten a single item, purple or exotic but all the other people playing were getting them left and right. The reason I ask this is i have not beat the story with this char and I have two other 32's and they get legendaries all the time. The only difference is they have beaten the story....

After doing several hundred ROC strikes here what I seen when it comes to legendary or exotic drops. Don't get killed!!! Ever!!! After even one death, you will never get anything good at the end. Put out a lot of damage throughout a strike. Match or exceed your teammates firepower. Utilize rockets. Taking out big groups of enemies bunched up together a lot of times gets rewarded. And a very last kill shot on a final boss, save your last rocket just for that. Same goes for nightfall. The guy on a team who lends a final kill shot on a boss, almost always gets an exotic. Seems like Destiny rewards payers ability to put out a lot of killing firepower without getting killed. But hey, nothing is set in stone as Bungie always tinkers with their loot system algorithms, so good luck!!!

I'm always the one who has double the kills and I rarely die. My fatebringer allows me to kill the whole group with one shot. I just don't understand why my other two Chars get sh1t every 3 games but my newest Char can't even get a ship after 20 games. Does vanguard rank have anything to do with the drops you think??

To be honest, in a past I had 10-20 games "dry streaks". Picked up after that. Can't say much about rewards versus vanguard rep. But I doubt it matter much.

Last week I would get 3 in a row and every other game and sometimes get a drop in the game and then get rewarded one at the end. Just figured that even after 20 games something would have dropped from stupid luck. Yet it gives the guy who comes in right at the end and kills one enemy a legendary item... That really annoys Me when I do all the work and some jerk off comes in and does nothing and get the reward...

Don't take it so personally. I was that guy showing up at a very end to kill a boss and get something half descent for a reward. Damage applied versus time played algorithm makes you a winner, I figure. Another point to make, overall kills in a game could be accounted on you have a great weapon versus other players having no skill or weak weapons. But somehow, loot reward algorithm calculates your skill level and the consistency of your damage output throughout any given strike, without getting killed once. But a lot of times at the end, the weakest team member gets thrown a bone, I guess to help him get better. Just remember, keep playing and have fun. If any game is just pissing you off, move on to the next one. I hope my logic makes some sense.

Lol I'm not mad at the player that does that, I get mad at this screwed up game. It's like you go to work everyday and when you get paid they sign the check to someone else. I do t mind helping ppl out but it seems like these days that ppl won't pay it forward to another player. To many mooches these days...

Yeah sometimes this game feels screwed up and rewards unjustified. But... your number will come up, hopefully more often then not.
