The Ahamkara and other beings from the Void - a ONCE highest rated post!

Hello and welcome guardians! Your friendly neighborhood AnonPig is back with another lore post for ya! This one will be including some interesting lore aspects of the dreadful: Ahamkara! These are one of my favorite aspects of Destiny and have some very unnerving qualities about them. I urge you not to believe the lies of the Vanguard, they are not gone from our world. Let's begin Important Grimoire and facts to know: Ghost Fragment Warlock Ghost Fragment Traveler Ghost Fragment Legends 3 The colour blue Viper Spine VI flavour text Knowledge of Aztec gods Voidwalker Spine of Young Ahamkara flavour text Skull of Dire Ahamkara flavour text Claws of Ahamkara flavour text Voidfang Vestments flavour text Unremarkable bones flavour text Knowledge of the Bartemeaus Trilogy and the workings of demons from there This post will mostly be about Ahamkara, but in doing so consists of our favorite moon sized ball: Alpha Lupi. There's so much to know, and so little information given that it's difficult to say exactly what these beasts are, but they came during our golden age which brings up two possibilitIes. One is they mutated from normal animals due to the Lupi being in their presence, the other which I find more likely is that they too came from the void. Lupi came from the Void without shape, without anything really, and she flit from galaxy to galaxy pursuing her works only to decide on what she would be when it was necessary. I believe the demons in the trilogy I mention work in a similar way to that, coming from their "other place" they have no natural shape, but choose one to be seen as. This leads me to believe that the Ahamkara are in a sense the same. They came from the void, and as a whole agreed to take the shape of a dragon, but what if they could choose another shape after that? Could they change? Based on the gear made from their bones they are communicating with us, and if you look closely at Young Ahamkara Spine the vertebrae actually flex. Could it be the Ahamkara when defeated take the form of the bones? Let's look into the nature of the Ahamkara, and see if that looks like a possibility. They wish to fill the world with teeth, burn the world, and eat reality? Now, let's not take these latter claims literally, it's more likely they're figurative. For teeth: aggression, burn: destruction, but eats reality. Now this one is different, could it be that they, like Lupi, can alter realities? If so, would eating a reality be consuming the energy of what was? Now what about a warlocks part in all this? I think this is the only true way to kill them. Warlocks are not bound to the laws of time and space, and maybe those powers are what give them the strength to kill them. This could explain why only a warlock could kill them but there's armour made for hunters. The hunters were agile, and clever, enough to defeat them, perhaps even trick them into thinking they were going to die, so they adopted their bone form. But while all this is good, we now know what they do and how to defeat them, we don't know exactly what they look like. We hear this term dragons casually tossed about, but what does that mean? Look at Claws of Ahamkara, there are clearly feathers, what kind of dragon has feathers? Now go look at Viper Spine VI, "legends tell of a serpent who sold knowledge..." Now there's a thought. Serpent. We assign in our minds this predetermined shape of a dragon, but what if Ahamkara were modeled after one that already existed. Quetzacoatl, an Aztec God depicted as a feathered serpent, God of knowledge and of Venus. Could that be an Ahamkara's form? Could that be what we would find if we were ever unlucky enough to meet one? Another possible style includes the batodactyls seen on Venus, modeled after Pterasuar Thanks for the info K Millz 71 And what if this isn't even it? How many other creatures could there be, that have adopted a shape from our world, just lurking. Waiting. i pity the fool without education, here's some lore posts for ya:
AnonPig's Theories Archived
Craving Ahamkara? • I know this post is about dead, but I'd really like to know what you can get together from the books of sorrow. I've had an odd obsession with the story since I found out about it, and would like a lore expert's view on it.

Do you think Titans hunted them. Even if you think that only warlocks could kill them. keep in mind Titans have a void subclass too.

          • https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/150002733/0/0 I also made a little story inspired by Ahamkara's. Please leave feedback, and Part two should be up soon.

          • I realize no one has a concrete theory about why guardians "hear" the bones (just think about that the bones are communicating). So dead things cannot talk under normal circumstances and even coating them in molten silver could not render the connection lost. So I have come to the believe that the akharama are void beings capable of shaping and controlling matter; akin to guardians and the light. So the bones would act as focal points between our world and the void.
also I believe the hive are nuclear parasites feeding off matter and that one requires a lot of lore to piece together. • So just to clarify, the bones in Crotas soul summoning chamber couldn't possibly be one? And if that's the case, what the hell was that thing?

            • I love everything you do.... Just one flaw in this one, the hunter was gifted young ahamkaras spine by a warlock that had a crush on her.... It's in the grimoire card for warlocks

Is their a contention to skolas? Could the bones on his back be from the dragon that spoke of promises ? Could they have convinced him of being Kell of Kells ? Could they be playing a bigger role ? They are from the void, like the traveler. Does that mean they are of the light or are they of the dark ? But what if they aren't one or the other. What if they are the queen of law ? A third power.

A very quick addition to your post. The Warlocks were the only ones who could kill Ahamkara's. The only reason there is a Hunter armor is because a Warlock challenged them saying "not even the greatest Hunter could kill one of these" (or something of that nature, it's in the Grimoire). Now the Hunter goes out and tries to slay one but can only kill a baby Ahamkara, hence the YOUNG Ahamkara's Spine. Someone reply to this so I can come back and edit the Grimoire in, please. :P
Why did I set her on the trail? You try and try and try to explain, but no one ever understands. No one who's not a Warlock. Who hasn't spent a dozen years scouring the ruins for one string of symbols, one clean code, one black talon. Titans just make a hmphing noise, if they've stayed awake. Hunters clean their nails with their knives and look at you like you've grown a third eye. But when you've spent your life searching through arcana for ancient power, you have the urge to reach out and educate others. Especially if you've had one too many. Nah, she's not my type at all. We've played dice, cards, war games, you know, the usual stuff. I'd never tried to show off before. I don't know what came over me. I had a broken vertebrae in my pocket that I'd borrowed from - yes, borrowed, I was going to put it back - what do you think you are, my conscience? It was a fossil, that means mineral replacement, a rock, basically. They can survive a few hours in my pocket. Do shut up. The Cryptarchs weren't going to miss it. Everyone knows the Ahamkaras were hunted to extinction. There's nothing to be afraid of anymore. Think of how mysterious this system is, I said. How much life sprang up when the Traveler came. Like the Ahamkara. Do you know the legends? The dragon that made promises? And I pulled out the fossil with a flourish - She pulled out her knife and started to pick the dirt from her nails. That set me off. You could never have brought down one of these, I said. Ever. Not the greatest Hunter, not the brawniest Titan. Her eyes narrowed. She said, Oh? Is that so? And I saw right then that she wasn't going to pass on the challenge. I've murdered a Guardian, I thought. She's going to die. It'll be my fault. And I looked at the piece of spine in my hand and wondered - why did I say that? What moved me to such pride?
I would also like to point out that the Ahamkara are specifically referred to as dragons and the "feathers" on the Ahamkara's Claws are probably just scales. They could also just be feathers like AnonPig was suggesting and the Ahamkara just be feathered dragons.

                    • Thumbs up for Bartimeaus Trilogy. Dropping knowledge man. Great series too. Fits in perfectly now that you mention void as being the "other" region that powerful beings live.
