You know they're not likely going to address this right? Your choice of TV display type is probably not high on their to-do list. And in a purely objective sense, not their problem.
On the other hand, I admit I'd like an option to have elements of the HUD disappear when unneeded. Such as having the shield/health bar disappear when I'm not taking hits.

I think this is a fix that would Benefit everyone. Wait until the majority of LEDs start showing sights. It has already started as it's been mentioned in other threads. But let's be honest, what games these days don't have HUd options regarding size, transparency, or removal? That's why the whole thing irks me. They know it's an issue and their design is not tv friendly but they pretend like it's not an issue.

I will 100% not be buying further expansions or sequels for destiny while this issue exists. It is costing them money so it is their problem. The size of the problem is another matter entirely. It is obviously a low or non-priority since otherwise it would have been fixed. All we can do is continue to complain until something happens, or we stop caring and move on to other games. Plasma TVs aren't the majority, but there are still millions of them being used.

Overlooking the damage I prefer a cleaner screen anyway with less display, I agree it seems now unlikely they will do anything but it can affect leds as well (although it takes significantly longer) and the OLEDs burn in equally as quickly as plasmas, I know I'm not a programmer but it seems like an easy fix that would benefit a huge portion of the population that plays the game for any significant amount of time.
-
Unfortunately, there's not really much that can be done on their end. Screen burn-in is just an inherent issue for Plasmas. I've never heard of OLEDs getting screen burn. LCDs either, although they are subject to dead (always black) and stuck (stays white/red/blue/green) pixels.

A simple transparency slider would COMPLETELY solve the issue. Even 80% opacity would probably be enough to solve the issue. Allowing us to slide it down to like 40-50% would ensure no problems even after playing the game all day without a break. Adding more options like hiding the HUD when not in combat would be the cherry on top, and just make sense in general. Myself and many others in this thread have ONLY had problems with destiny, even with hundreds if not thousands of hours played in other games. This proves that it is a preventable issue.
-
Well if the problem only happens with Destiny, then I understand your complaint.

I have a link somewhere but if you look up burn in on Wikipedia there are links to all sorts of TV technologies having issues, I believe cnet even talks about in their overview of OLEDs about them getting burn in at the same rate as plasma as well.
-
Didn't know that. I'll have to look it up. And here we thought OLED was the Holy Grail of display tech.

I think it will be eventually, it has great potential just needs time to get through the first several generations. The contrast is amazing, the black levels near perfect, they just need to fix cost, motion, and hopefully make headway on burn in. Hopefully they come down in price by the time my current TV dies or I'm gonna be screwed
