I took a close look at the damage bar going from 32, 31, 30. There is a clear difference in damage taken, with you taking slightly more damage at lower levels, but then dramatically more damage at 29, This has to do with the fact that more armor decreases the damage against you, which is an advantage (although doesn't appear to be huge) for running level 30 content with a 32..

  • Yes but that's purely the difference in armour, which is minute. Not like the 20-30% difference that one level makes.

  • I run vog as 32 but the slight armor benefit is not something I even notice seems exactly like running it as level 30

  • Yeah same here.

  • I agree the difference is small, but you can make an argument to run level 32 gear on level 30 content based on the armor bonus alone. How much of a difference it actually makes I do not know.

  • Absolutely, I agree. Not worth the trade-off if the lower level gear has a perk that's better in that situation though. For example, I'd rather run VoG gear than CE gear in VoG.

  • Can you please give me details of the perks of the VOG gear for the VOG raid? I have VOG gear for all 3 characters but can't see any special vog raid perk. (before you call me a noob please understand that I have nearly 100 vog completions and 100 crota completions). I have read about these "perks" but must have been unlucky with the gear drop. Admittedly after the DLC I deleted all my VOG gear and have only just started collecting it again in the last month. Thanks in advance.

  • Doesn't matter how many completions you have, raids are a joke. Clearly still a noob if you don't know what I'm talking about. Just inspect the gear, maybe you'll understand.

  • Okay buddy. Suggest you check hours played etc before suggesting someone is a noob. Although perhaps you could explain how someone could be a noob with 200 raid completions? Given that our grimoire scores are very similar are you a noob? You don't have any vog gear equipped with special VOG perks. This is what my question was about.

  • What does time spent have to do with skill? Nothing at all.

  • Are you ever going to answer my original question? You stated "I'd rather run VoG gear than CE gear in VoG". I am asking why?. Oh, and good luck getting to 50 VOG raid completions.

  • Because of the VoG specific perks on the VoG gear. Seems like your reading comprehension is a bit on the downside.

  • Okay lets try this again. I have plenty of VOG gear but nothing that states a specific VOG raid perk. Just the usual extra ammo, speed reload etc. Can you please give me details? What are these perks? Have I just been incredibly unlucky in my loot drops? Sure seems that way. Again, thanks for the help.

  • All the gear has it. Nothing to do with lucky drops.

  • Yeah I agree the VoG perks are probably worth the tradeoff

  • So i just checked, only the helmet and gloves have VoG perks. Gloves give you increased super energy when you either kill an oracle or a praetorian. Helm gives you chance to spawn an orb on killing a vex unit with a crit or melee damage.

  • Okay. Thanks. I have gear that has increased super energy from non guardian kills and spawn an orb from crit or melee kills. Neither of these are vex specific. I have higher light level gear that has the same sort of perks, e.g. new raid gear for orbs. Again thanks. Not at all sure these perks make it worth the slightly reduced damage level to drop down to VOG gear.

I'm pretty sure that's what he's talking about, If you want I can equip my vog armour set and show you.

  • All the VOG raid weapons have oracle perks. None of my VOG raid gear specifically mentions an oracle or praetorian perk. I'll review the new raid gear I get each week as a specific oracle perk would be handy. Thanks.
