Just finished playing some strikes from the Roc playlist and was amazed at the number of players cheesing certain sections.
Archon Priest
Players sniping from the cliff or on the ketch while clearing the 3 waves of vex.
Players sniping the boss from up on the cliff.
Nexus
Players staying up on the ledge or in the cheesing spot during the boss fight.
Phogoth
Players sniping from the shrieker room, never really being able to contribute seeing as how the rest of us have him aggro'd down the other end of the room.
Why do people do this? Is it laziness, or just old-fashioned scrubbery? Funnily enough, these players usually finished with less than half as many kills, yet were consistently awarded the best loot.
"Oh look, you got 33 kills, have a Mida Multi Tool".
"What's that, sir? You were dead most of the strike? Legendary Engram".
*Shakes fist at sky* "Curse you RNG! Curse you.

its called getting on with the strike and getting a bounty complete as long as all players mix in then its fine. i use the cliffs if i have a survival bounty, do i want to die?, no but i always pull my weight.
-
The only really bad one is the phogoth shreiker room because it makes the strike harder and longer. I get why people do it for some nightfalls, but for roc it's just counter-productive.

This is a really tired post subject. It comes up many times each week and I don't understand why people give a crap when the end goal is always reached in ROC strikes. Yes, maybe it takes 5-10 more minutes to do it, but whatever. And to your point, alot of people who use those spots aren't just using sniper rifles. I go through my primary and heavy at the same time. And of guess what, I'll come down if one of the other 2 are killed so they can be revived. It is strange how you can go through a strike and at the last minute somebody joins, and guess what, they get G'horn. This happened to my buddy last week when he joined my nightfall, which I had solo'd to the point where the Archon Priest was near death. Cheers

I go to the nexus cheese spot down in his little area but I always get the most kills and the most damage so I don't understand why you would complain on that spot.

10 RepliesPlay the same strike 1000 times over and over again then you'll understand. Nobody likes doing Roc Strikes. It's all about finishing the strike as fast and as easy as you can. No need to be going try hard on a level 26 strike kid.
-
1 Replyhow about we all play the game we bought the way you want us to. would that help? seriously, they are ROC strikes, they are easily done with 2 people. suck it up or just quit and find a new team, or, and this is a crazy idea, play with 2 friends. issue solved.

4 RepliesIf I see people sniping nexus from top I make sure to push them off
-
3 RepliesIt's ppl like you that piss ppl like me off when I'm trying to get sht done w/o dying from trying to rush. I'd like to finish the mission and not revive you 12 times.
-
2 RepliesCampers!!! People sniping from cliffs!!!! Oh no!!!!! Get good, blah blah blah. I hope if you get shipped off to war, your gamr instincts kick in and you run at your enemy like an idiot. See where that gets ya.
-
I snipe Atop the cliff during the Archon Priest because I just find it more fun and effective. Half of those aren't even cheeses! Lol. I usually get more kills during strikes anyways. Also what's wrong with MIDA? It's a really beast of a weapon. You probably just suck at it.
-
You don't even need coordination in a strike! Besides a revive at the most! All strikes for the most part can be soloed ... And almost all nightfalls if you are patient /If the person wants to sit on the ledge and snipe ... It doesn't hinder you from playing the way you wish to play... So what's the big deal
-
First off, only one of those is "cheese," the Phogoth one. Sniping from the cliff is exactly that. Sniping. That's how that's done. If your loadout is sniper friendly, you get in a spot and shoot from distance. Same with the Nexus, sniping from the ledge is sniping from the ledge. No one said you need to jump down into the fray. Just because you like to run and and gun and use localized supers that doesn't mean others have to match your gameplay. Why don't you match the gameplay of those you play with, if you are able that it. I play the way the people in the strike are playing. It's just easier that that way. If they want to snipe the Nexus, let me load up my sniper and let's do it and end it quick. You want to jump down, I have the gear for that fight too. Orb city, here we come.

15 RepliesIf I see someone cheering, and if I'm using my Titan, I'll put bubbles over them so they have to move or can't shoot
-
3 RepliesDo you realise that this just sounds stupid. Using the cover and a long ranged sniper rifle to your advantage is not cheesing. I mean were the Troops cheesing during world war one for hiding in trenches using snipers to take out the Kaisers troops or was that just common sense. The amount of times ive seen a wipe on strikes because some lvl 32 titan thought he was all that running in punching everything then attracting more aggro than he could handle, meaning the sensible players had to come out of cover to res his dead ass. Stop moaning and play the game you want to play it and let others do it their way!!
-
People who cheese any ROC or planet strikes are scrubs and lack skill and are equivalent to campers in call of duty. It's pathetic and makes me sick to be playing this game with them. I really don't understand why people hide during the devils liar planet strike. It's a lvl 8 strike! I can't die on that strike if I stood still I front of the enemies. Lol. Scrubs everywhere!
-
4 RepliesStop crying panzy! If you can't solo a roc strike you are awful! Also that's not cheesing its a tactical spot. I don't play roc strikes anymore but when I did I never had an issue. Get over yourself.

Edited by BadgermanPrime: 3/18/2015 11:50:41 AMCan understand why this would be annoying. Shit, it's annoying having to do things like that on nightfall let alone a normal strike. Would definitely much rather be in about the action and actually enjoy myself than stand there bored as hell That being said, I wouldn't exactly call it cheesing either. More just using surroundings to maximum effect. Argument foes both ways u suppose. Ultimately it doesn't make a huge difference to me either way, no more so than someone being AFK - which is not at all
-
I agree, people talk about it being a safe place, hell if people need a safe place on a 26 strike and they are level 30 or higher then they might be the one's people are saying to get good.
-
Edited by VyersReaver: 3/18/2015 12:08:51 PM"If you see it, you can get there." -Bungie. Meaning, it's not cheesing.
-
People doing a strike without dying bounty. I always laugh at hiders in a 26 strike! Don't care much tho as I like to run and it gives me loads more enemies to shoot at!
-
Not cheese but it's def in the dairy family. Maybe it's a yoghurt.
-
What's the point in having a sniper rifle if it wasn't intended for these purposes? I don't feel that its cheesing. It's taking advantage of the terrain or high ground in a map for a long range kills / better tactical advantage. That's the definition of a sniper.
-
Archon Priest Players sniping from the cliff or on the ketch while clearing the 3 waves of vex.
What's cheesy about that?
-
The only one of these I like to do is during the 3 waves on the Archon Priest Strike. It just makes me feel cool to shoot down the hobgoblin just before he shoots my teammates then wave from afar.
-
Edited by TommieTaco: 3/18/2015 12:35:14 PMLol sniping from the cliff is a cheese? Lol i forgot that sniper rifles were close range weapons. He other two you stated, ya those are cheeses but running into enemy fre and not staying back and poping off the big dogs first is a -blam!-ing stupid ass move. Also, who the -blam!- dies so much from rocs that they have to complain about the snipers on the cliff? Lol Edit: however, definitely a cheese when fighting the boss but not the three waves.
-
It's more like this, at least for me: I've been playing since Alpha I've cleared all the strikes numerous times I have nothing to prove or gain by not trying to do the strike as fast as humanly possible What's the advantage of doing the strike without what you consider "cheese"? You don't need to answer that, I already no the answer to the question, there's nothing to gain in any way, shape, or form.
