No offense to Recon, but I think his popularity here is due, at least in part, to both the fact he's a mod and that he's been here actively for 10+ years.
The guy is an awesome poster, I won't deny that, but I think part of the reason he gets so much attention is the "Ninja" next to his name.
I would say the larger reason that intellectual posts are ignored here is that there are tons of kids here who could not care less to discuss something intelligently. That's why you have role-playing "bars", "master chief vs WWII Russia vs Batman w/ prep", "I'm grill AMA", and "gurll advis pls" threads getting the most responses. Gotta know your audience before you try and discuss things with them.

It's true some of the more in depth posts I make are completely ignored and then other moderate or shitty posts I make take off. I still try to post a good thought provoking one on occasion in hopes it will take. You need to be part of the change that you want to see. Keep trying if that's what you want to see more here, I know I would :3

It's true. The majority of the older members left and were replaced with the new bloods. However, this doesn't negate the fact that forum rules of the old ways would drastically cut back on those kinds of brainless posts. It's unfortunate that there's no sign of such a thing returning.

Nah were here. However some individuals manipulated the reporting system and got our mains banned.

Bungie's games used to attract an older audience. It used to be adults who would get on an play shooters against each other. Now it's younger kids, especially with games like Destiny with T ratings. I think the rules here are meant to appease that crowd and that crowd prefers shitposting and being stupidly/retardedly random/ADD-esque like PewDiePie, Markiplier, and other popular kid things.

You had me all the way up to insulting Mark. Will you take pewdiepie with you on your way to hell friend?

Edited by Ahhsenberg: 3/19/2015 3:55:53 PMI disagree. Age ratings don't really apply (CoD is a perfect example) and Destiny is very similar to Halo. The rules were changed not to appease younger users, but to be reformatted for a reason that Achronos explained that related to moderating.

I was saying that games in general used to be used moreso by adults, but thy changed as time went on and now it's even more accessible because of the teen rating (I used to work at Toys R Us and believe me, there are quite a few parents that abide by those... It's definitely not all of them, but a decent amount do). I can honestly say I never saw Achronos's post though, so I can comment on that.
