If He wasn't able to hold something it would be because He doesn't allow Himself to hold it. God can do anything but He chooses not to do some things out of principle. For instance, the Bible says God cannot lie. Well He could if He wanted to but He prevents himself from doing so. So... Yes! God could make an object that He can't hold.

No. The only thing that binds God to what He can and cannot do is His word. If He says He can or cannot do something it means He won't do it. The only reason He won't do it is because He can't do it. In a way, He really can't. His word is binding and cannot be broken. I'm sure you could dream up a scenario were He breaks His promise not to break promises, thus unraveling a whole new chain of possibilities... but that won't happen.
