Gotta say, the point of view there seems to be kind of belittling what Samus has done... I'd guess you're not really meaning to, but what your saying is like saying "All megaman has done is kill a few robots", which is true, but you still need to look at things in perspective.
Keep in mind that this is all based on my perceptions of each game, without really getting too into either series lol.
Master Chief is definitely a conquering badass, I don't know a ton of the lore or anything, (was never all that into Halo) but you don't blast through armies of enemies if you're a mediocre front line soldier.
But you can say similar things about Samus as well. The only games I've played any of for hers are really just a couple of the side scrollers, but she may be a mercenary, but she's a space merc, with the skills, tools, and genes, to be one of the best bounty hunters in however many galaxies are involved I'm the metro is games.
She may not have the formal training of the chief, but I'd say they're pretty close in terms of experience, and that Samus' survival skills are even slightly superior, making them pretty even all around in the terms of a 1v1 fight.
When it comes to physique, I'd give the edge to the super soldier in terms of power, and flat out running speed.
I'm not sure if the chozo(?) DNA enhances her physical ability, but I'm going to assume that it does... Because to me, that just makes sense lol. But not enough to overpower the chief given her thin, voluptuous ;) frame.
The power suits seem to cancel each other out for the most part as well, chiefs seeming to be focused more on power and defense, while Samus seems to be more all-around, possibly even defensively, but more likely focused on mobility/flexibility with the super ball(?) ability, and looking to be a little less restrictive than the bulkier power armor.
In terms of firepower I agree that Samus would most likely come out ahead, since I don't remember any ammo restrictions on hers, or know if the chief had anything that didn't run out of ammo/energy.
There's also the fact that in a more realistic fight, Samus would be able to make use of any weapon she might cause the chief to drop, while hers are part of the suit.
Both have decent cc weapons which could mean an instant win for either side, Samus with her mines combined with her electro whip thing lol, could halt master chief, and possibly short out his suit, but most definitely wrap him up and injure him pretty badly.
MC, with the various grenades at his disposal, he might surprise her pretty well too lol.
[Edit]: was brought to my attention that the charge pistol(?) is a covenant weapon, so I've taken it out of the equation.
CQ I'd put the edge towards Samus with the superball(?) and electro whip(?), as opposed to the chief and his fists/sword/hammer. With the hammer being his best bet, if he can avoid Samus interrupting his swings. (Smashing the ground would create some distance, but the ball would mitigate the damage.
Long range, I'd still say Samus, due to high mobility, her changing shape, and the likely event of the circular motion of the ball form causing most shots to be glancing blows.
Combined with the limitless(possibly) ammunition, and tracking rockets to keep the pressure up. Until the ammo started running out, it'd be pretty even, a really drawn out situation.
[people may bring up the needler here for tracking weaponry, but I'm going under the 1v1 idea, where it's the chief and his weaponry, not covenant gear or whatever the needler is]
Mid range is where I'd say the fight would be most even, each side switching to the most appropriate piece of equipment for the situation on the fly.
With his experience MC would probably do his best to keep the fight here, pressuring Samus into backing off, closing in if she backs off to far, waiting for or trying to create an opening. Samus would know she has an edge in some areas, so she'd be trying to get into CQ or back off lol.
Like I said, I think it'd be a really even fight, but with two skilled fighters, it comes down to luck or supplies... And my money would go on Samus.
[Edit]: without the possibility of being able to shut down Samus' suit with the charge pistol(?), I'd have to say it's even more likely that Samus would be the victor.
But win or lose I'd enjoy the show lol

Edited by Apollos: 10/27/2015 1:55:13 PMSamus powersuit is far superior to chiefs. I mean far

If you say luck than the chief wins. Hes always been said to be quite lucky.

Edited by xXZeroShikiXx: 3/10/2015 9:01:58 PMWhen I say luck in this context, it's the fact that in a fight that's as even as this one could be (so long as MC can keep the right range), it would probably come down to whoever left the first fatal opening. As far as I'm concerned, Samus has the edge in most cases. The only reason why I see it possibly being even is due to MCs experience vs various enemies. Her power suit appears to be far more advanced (MCs gear while futuristic, is still based on possible human standards, he barely has any gear that I believe would even scratch her suit), she has that chozo(?) DNA which makes her more than human, and she has limitless ammo (with her energy cannon anyways)

Guy who can bunch holes in walls, flip tanks, and countless hours of training and experience. Remember cheif is a slaughter house tank out of his armor. He was literally breed to kill. Samus aran is a bounty hunter. Nothing more than a chick with an arm cannon. She also has little to no experience killing humans.
-
The bias is strong in this one. Samus got tons of training on a planet with 300 g gravity. She can match the chief in just pure physical strength and speed. She's also extremely powerful out of her suit, like chief.
-
I have played both games (Metroid more) chief would destroy samus no problem. There is no physically possible way that samus could train in 300g. She would either A. Be crushed under her own weight or B. She would look like the incredible hulk. Also samus has no experience fighting other humans while cheif does. Samus has an arm cannon that works closely to the way the plasma pistol works. Cheif has no arm cannon but is can use nearely any weapon. Samus cannot use any other weapon other than a pistol without revealing her unarmored arm. Cheif has fought far more dangerous enemies than samus. The only enemy that could compare to what cheif has fought could have been dark samus but she and the gravemind are nearely the same.

Nononono. Samus has killed things considered invincible. Dark Samus is metroid prime after it stole her phazon suit layer. Also takin some of her genetic material. When metroid prime aka dark Samus, "dies" it just pulls it's phazon particles back together and reforms itself even stronger. Metroid prime is the living definition of evolution and invincibility. The only way to kill it was to destroy phaaze. Which chief would immediately die tryin to accomplish. Gorea was an enemy that WAS invincible. It crushed an alien race called the Alimbics to peices. Mind you the Alimbics were far superior to humanity. Much older too. So comparing the two, chief has managed to suppress the flood, fend off the covenant. The flood can be considered a universal treat. The covenant only when compared to humanity is considered a universal treat. But not chief or Samus. Samus has destroyed several beings/monsters tht were a threat to the whole universe. Metroid prime, the Ing, Gorea, X-parasites. All of these could have crippled everything in the universe, given the time.

300 was a typo. It was supposed to be 30, but this also seems unreasonable now that I think about. You have a point, and chief would probably win, I just don't think you're giving samus enough credit.
-
Check the other reply to the other guy. I am giving them both equal footing.

Edited by xXZeroShikiXx: 3/10/2015 9:10:13 PMThe chief wouldn't have the plasma pistol, why would he have covenant weaponry in a 1v1 against Samus? If he knows anything about her, he would enter the fight with most likely a shotgun, grav hammer, and standard issue grenades... I was being nice and taking into account all of MCs possible weaponry, but even he can only carry so much. Samus also has her whip, mines, rockets (both power and tracking) and the ability to mitigate all but the most devastating damage by switching to ball form.
-
If we are saying that samus has all of her upgrades then lets take into account all of cheifs cannon since I was only talking about game cheif. How about his speed (which is faster than samus), his reaction speed (goodluck hitting him unless he wants you to), how about his creativity and ability to analyze his opponents. Yes if samus got 1 good shot then she could (big if btw) manage to take his shields down but john would realize that that is her only weapon (ranged) and crush it with little trouble. Samus is slower, weaker, a little more agile (female body), and does have nearly as much training and experience.
-
If it all comes down to luck, then the chief wins.

That's not the way it works, but I'm gonna have to change up my post a bit anyways lol
