I agree the tradeoff on Grenade-launchers should be Ammo/Blast Radius/Damage.
It sounds like you are proposing two general classes:
- Low ammo, High Blast Radius and Higher Damage
- High ammo, Low Blast Radius and Lower Damage
That seems a bit unbalanced. I'd suggest:
- Low Ammo, Low Blast Radius, Higher Damage
- High Ammo, High Blast Radius and Lower Damage
(though maybe some combination of Very Low Ammo , High Blast Radius, Higher damage might also work)
re: Railguns
Interesting ideas, they seem more "anti vehicle" and "anti-boss" than Machine Guns, but also seem to fill the rolls of a "Heavy Sniper". I can see the rage in the crucible at these one shot heavies from sniper range.
Personally I'd like to see Melee class items be implemented first, but Railguns are an interesting idea.
They remind me of the Forge Guns in Dust 514.
