Currently waiting to buy the last book in the Wheel of Time series. I'm currently reading Cloud Atlas (which I'm really enjoying and can't wait to see the film), after that it's on to Any Human Heart which a friend of mine recommended for me. I want to read the Song of Ice and Fire series too. Alas, time is not my friend.

 • I read Game of Thrones, but have yet to get any of the sequels. It was a good book and I enjoyed it, but the long length was a bit of a turn off. It might have been partly because I got it after watching the show, so I knew what would happen, but the plot progressed quite slowly at some parts. It might also have to do with the fact that Martin kills off so many characters. I will hopefully finish the series, but it is currently low on my list.

 • I love a writer who isn't afraid to kill of important characters, I hear there's quite a lot of that in the SoIaF series. Thinking of rereading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? too, one of my all-time favourite books that spawned one of my all-time favourite films.

 • Having characters without plot armour is always nice. However, with the extremely high mortality rates in SoIaF, I have trouble forming a conection with any of them knowing they are likely going to be killed in the final few chapters. I loved DADoES. It was a great book. Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies too. I am of the opinion that Deckard is a human, not replicant, though.

 • I think it's important that Deckard is a human so the viewer can actually relate to him on a personal level, obviously you can't really do that if he's a machine. It's a very interesting question, and while I do like the idea that Deckard is a replicant, ultimately I think it's more important for him as a character to be human.
