Guild Wars 1 would do something like changing character models and every year fake patch notes would be released that were always pretty hilarious. When the devs were slowly revealing the classes for GW2 via trailers, they announced the commando class that looked as legitimate as every other class. Despite the fact that a class that wore kevlar and gas masks while wielding an assault rifle didn't fit into the fantasy MMO theme, it still fooled a lot of people. At the same time they released a new outpost in GW1 that started a quest line that let you play as a commando.
