It's you again! This is the order
Episodes 1-24 of Neon Genesis Evangelion
The movie: End of Evangelion
If you would like, watch 25 and 26 of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Warning: they make no sense at all, and there was barely any budget put into them. They are practically blank screens with talking that confuse the shit out of you. End of Evangelion was made as the true ending after enough money was made from the series to release the true ending. It is still confusing, but not killer like 25 and 26. The movie has action and basically 25 and 26 are just the characters thoughts at a certain point in the movie (don't want to spoil, it's the end of the series), while the movie is what was happening for the thoughts to come about. JUST TRUST ME, WATCH 1-24 THEN END OF EVANGELION, IM TRYING TO HELP YOU.
Now, watch the "Rebuild of Evangelion" movies. These consist of:
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance
Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo
The 4th and final movie has yet to be released.
After the second movie, the rebuild series takes a whole new plot and doesn't follow the original Neon Genesis Evangelion, so watch Neon Genesis Evangelion first. Watching many theory and explanation videos on YouTube is also useful. My favorite is along the lines of "Evangelion explained in 7 minutes"
Wait, you're not done! Watch everything before the rebuild movies again (they are optional) as you will pick up many things you have missed.
All of this besides the YouTube videos is available on a website called kissanime(I think putting a website is against Bnet). The website is mobile friendly too!
Excellent answer. I have always been a massive Evangelion fan and basically had my heart and soul crushed when a proper ending didnt happen, haha. Im actually really bitter I never bought the VHS set, since I see it selling for A LOT of money on Amazon.
Anyways, besides the point. I was going to say that even though I loe the original series, I actually think the new series is superior. They probably should (if they could) have split the first movie 1.1 into two movies and added in the details missing from the original series; but I suppose that just gives incentive to watch the original series. I cant wait for the final instalment.
Yeah, there are mechs in it and it is undoubtedly in the mecha genre. BUT (huge but) its in a league of its own and no other mecha anime even comes close to it. Some might argue thats a good thing, other that its a bad thing, but either way, Evangelion is extremely unique. Its also one of the most intelligent anime yet made, with references to hypercubes and string theory, very complex characters, complex and intriguing plot development... plus the story itself is sort of like a very realistic and ultra-sic-fi approach to the mecha concept. They aren't just assuming theres robots and space travel and everything just sorta works fine.
