If I speak to people that have been doing the raids for the majority of the time, they speak about hundreds of shards and energy. Not to mention their reaching Level 32 earlier and having weapons generally superior to counterparts in the Iron Banner, or via crucible drops.
Its an unreasonable im-balance in player performance/acquisitions.
I think Destiny would do well to either: (1) close the gap by greatly increasing the rewards for playing in crucible; or (2) just straight out announce that destiny is a Raiding & Nightfalling game and the Crucible is just an ancillary activity, so if players prefer the crucible, they should look to another game developer.
EDIT: The reasons for Raiding or not-raiding are inconsequential.

This game was built with PvE activities in mind, and literally states that raiding is the final endgame activity. Therefore it is only logical that the best gear comes from raiding and not PvP. There is no counter-argument or side thought that changes this notion. If you don't like it, don't play, it's that simple because it will not be changing. Edit: To everyone using the argument of "PvP Minded Nerfs", mind you, this is only because you never see PvE players calling for any nerfs. The biggest weapon balance patch in the game so far has come from PvE players, and that was the exotic buff, so get over your line of thought on that notion too.
