Depends on what game and level of competition and how often they win tournaments. Also many pros make money on the side through streaming. I believe Pros that play Lol, Dota and Starcraft make the most in the hundreds of thousands (the winners of the international each won around $200,000 for one tournament Pros that play fps games tend to make less money (in the tens of thousands, although I'm sure a few have made it in the hundreds of thousands as well) because fps games aren't as popular in the esports seen/have less viewers and have a shorter period of relevance (usually only a few years). There are a lot of other perks that go along with being a pro gamer, your management pays for hotels, flights other travel expenses etc. and the free gear you'll get from companies wanting you to wear their stuff.

  • That's cool. Look into (Google) the top RTS and MOBA players and see if you can find how much they've made in 2014. Dendi is one of the top Dota players, and there was a Starcraft player that retired at like the age of 22 last year who has a net worth of over a million and now he just streams games for fun. Idk as much about fps, they've dropped in popularity as far as the pro scene goes because there haven't been as Many fps games that people consider competitive enough to play in a pro setting. There are other games that are played pro as well like fighting games like tekken an mortal combat and even smash bros. Sounds like a good project. Oh also I forget what college it was (I want to say Utah but a quick google search should bring it up) but last year a college started the first collegiate League of Legends team. I think once I get my masters I may try to teach at a college that would be interested in starting a college game team or work at one that already has one. Also (sorry if this is a lot) there have been boot camps for pro gamers for awhile but recently China Korea and Japan have started tech schools for pro gaming. It's a crazy world we live in.
