I bought Destiny after the first expasion was lauched. During the game I earned an exotic weapon Hand Cannon "The Truth - A Verdade" with power starting at 302. After reaching power 331 I went to Xur this weekeng to upgrade my weapon and guess
what? Xur turned back my weapon to 302! I did a search on the internet and found out that the upgrading for exotic weapons offered by Xur is for those weapons earned before the first expansion Dark Below reaching at maximum 300. But I bought Destiny after that and this kind of upgrading shouldn't be offered to me since my exotic weapon already starts at 302. What can Bungie do about this please?

Exotic Upgrade FAQ This is the article explaining it, but you're already aware of how the system works. I would encourage you to create a thread over in Feedback for the team. Make sure to use your "compare" button when doing weapon or gear upgrades to see the differences between them before doing the upgrade. There is no way to reverse this.

The option is open to upgrade exotics as some want to reroll their exotic armor for better stats (intellect, discipline, strength) Agree that it should be closed for weapons

2 RepliesNothing can be done now. Sorry but you'll have to re-level your gun. It shouldn't take too long if you do your bounties.

Yeah sorry. I think they said they're not gonna do this for the next expansion. People weren't very big fans of re-upgrading all of their exotics.
-
So whenever you upgrade it'll just put the exotics at 302 attack

When it says upgrade it upgrades it to the current t max attack/light level. That feature was mostly for when the DLC was first released. That way everyone's precious exotics that only did 300 attack or had 30 light wouldn't become obsolete and they could upgrade them to keep on using them.

You can't upgrade past 331. That's the current attack limit on all weapons. You've just wasted a shard and a load of glimmer to reset your weapon back to it's original value. When House of Wolves comes out it may be possible to upgrade further but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
