What if the Geomantic Symbols were the Seven Seraphs?
I know this is probably way off and I'm getting ahead of myself here but if you wish to hear my short explanation for this, thank you. [url=http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/Hylebosaiden/WhatiftheGeomanticSymbolsweretheSevenSeraphs.jpg]Credit to Hylebos[/url].
We can see that there are no Seven Seraphs "faction" shirts in the Bungie Store (also true for Osiris, so maybe there's something else there) but this led me to thinking. We don't really have any confirmation of anything in terms of what is what in the world of Destiny so why couldn't they be [url=http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline12/BungieDay2012/particles.png]the seven Geomantic symbols?[/url]
The definition of a seraph is an angelic being, belonging to the highest order of the ninefold celestial hierarchy. So, why couldn't these Geomantic symbols that are (for now) regarded as being 7 different recognizable things in our solar system (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn)... Thoughts?

Just to be clear, is the theory that the faction Seven Seraphs, more or less worship [i]seven seraphs[/i]? A seraph being a symbol. Does that mean that there is an entity for all of the possible Geomantic symbols? Which could mean that the other factions worship the other symbols, or do they have their own system? Hmm, still just think the sentence that was decoded simply spells out the theme/story/premise of the game/Destiny.. [Edited on 07.09.2012 1:41 PM PDT]

The archangels are also often messengers of their god. We know that the "One of Seven" have, or will have, some more information to share with us from Bungie. It's the same messenger role.

The angels associated with the symbols are also associated with the same planets, sun, and moon everybody has already mentioned. They are also associated with the governance or protection of large groups of people, nations, or dare I say it... factions. If the "One of Seven" winners are indeed the Seven Seraphs, they could very well be the literal or metaphorical heads of seven Earth-colonies (First-World Colonies?).

The Great Journey was part of that religion. [/quote]This game seems to be taking place in our solar system, with our planets and whatnot so it would be more connectable to us if they used religion. But, I do see where you're coming from. I just want Destiny already!!!

The religion in the game wouldn't be any religion that exists in our world. It would be something false that fits into the Destiny storyline. Are we assuming Destiny takes place in the future? Or in a completely alternative universe? The Seven Seraphs could be something like worshiping Talos in Skyrim.
