Lackluster Raid Gear.

I enjoy raiding. It is a strange part of me that enjoys the masochistic grind or the sadistic hoops that I task myself with experiencing. But there is an exception to this. I expect to have a shot at something grand as a potential reward. (Ex. Farming Doc Mercy in BL2 for a small shot at the Infinity pistol. Or trying to spawn that mother-blam!-er Vermy to snag myself a wicked Norfleet). But in Destiny I am strangely unsatisfied with the lacking rewards in both available raids, especially the armor. Why are there not multiple types of armor for each class? Why are there not major differences in normal mode raid and the hard mode raid? Why the lack of....well everything? Honestly I enjoy the tasks and looks of the raids buuuuutttttt the rewards are lacking. If I go through hard mode I would like special armor that only drops in the hard raid or for doing certain things in the hard mode. Ex. Killing Aethon in under 4 minutes after first teleport or killing Ir Yut with only shotguns. It could drastically change the loot pools of your raid and give me something to work for after the first release of a new raid. "But why the difficulty for the challenges?" I hear you ask. Game changers. In some rpg's there are special upgrades that change the entire way your characters play. The best way of explaining this is the Titan helmet Helm of Undying Light. With it adding Death From Above and Headstrong it allows you to focus on the Aftermath perk and build in different ways. An interesting concept, no? Well in my proposed ideas there would be raid only game changers. These perks would only be used in the raids but still apply their stat modifiers regularly. (Strength. Discipline. Ammo capacity increases ect). Here is an example of a hard mode Warlock, Titan and Hunter chestpiece design. LIGHT OF THE WANDERING GOD. "I smite thee!" Raid Perk. Cleansing Flame. During Radiance melee enemies avoid you but the shining light attracts the attention of ranged enemies. THE MOVE CLOSER "You protect in the void. That is our only duty." -Titan Creed XI- Raid perk. Pitstop. Allies moving into and out of your Ward of Dawn gain a transfusion. Or Enemies entering your Ward of Dawn take damage but you have reduced health for the duration of your Ward of Dawn. CRATERED CASKET. "Their skulls are weakest when punctured from behind." Raid perk. Reflex Enforcer. When low on health you gain a bonus to reloads, melee speed, and movement speed. Just ideas, but they would provide a major boost of motivation to the people who have already obtained the highest levels, the best weapons and know the raid inside and out. Why not give us gear to make us feel like badasses after we have plunged into the hell of hardmode? I know my ideas need streamlining and testing and I know it is easier to come up with ideas than to design and implement them, but the raids need a little more to them. As of now I am in the middle of drafting up multiple sets of Epic level raid gear for each class, subclasses included, with different perk variants as well. As a test for myself I and a group of friends are trying to design an entirely new raid with full backstory development, dialogue and new characters. Wish us luck. Thanks for the read and comments. We would love to read any ideas, suggestions or feedback. GG guardians and good luck raiding.

  • Not a bad idea but you know how bungie is about deviating from their own "plans" for things. Will likely never happen. Would allow you too much customization and would allow you too much of being a special snowflake.
