Every time I sign on to destiny I have this feeling of bewilderment. Why do I continue to play this game? Something about it just keeps me playing. Something keeps me from relogging when I can't connect to a party. Something keeps me patient when I get error code banana or sheep or sheepdog. I think I finally know what it is... BUM BUM BUM. This game has the greatest potential of any game I've ever played to be something unlike any other. However, it continually strides to be a plain ole Jane. I am about to touch on a few of things that bother me about this game and what I believe should be done (but never will be done) or could have been done to make this game stellar (pun intended). 1. The week to week monotony. This has been talked about extensively so I'm going to avoid depth here. However. I want to just go through my thought process on a week to week basis. Monday is coming to a close and I log into destiny, ehh lets say at 9PM. As most of you know, by the time Monday rolls around all you have left to do is: a. Crucible for likely nothing because you've achieved the marks cap by this point b. Raid for nothing because you've done the raids and received your shards/energy by this point c. Complete strikes that you've done over and over and over to receive the same loot that you've seen over and over and over. d. Complete the daily heroic for shards that are completely obsolete and useless e. Jump around in the tower, try to climb that tree by the gunsmith, race around the tower with your friends, jump off the tower etc. So anyway, Destiny on Monday comes to a close at around 9:15 when I realize there is actually nothing to gain from playing this game. [b]NOW IT'S TUESDAY LETS GO MOTHER****ER'S.[/b] Me and my friends are psyched. We got raids, nightfalls, strikes, missions to complete. Marks to gain! Everything is good gravy until I realize. a. Crucible marks are limited to 100 a week. Crucible quartermaster is selling the SAME **** EVERY WEEK. b. VOG is completely obsolete. All the gear is essentially useless. Crota is kinda fun and interesting. Until I realize I am working towards getting 1 SET OF ARMOR THAT EVERYONE ELSE USING THE SAME CLASS IS TRYING TO GET SO THAT WE ALL HAVE THE SAME ARMOR THAT MAKES US ALL THE SAME LEVEL SO THAT WE ALL THE LOOKING THE ****ING SAME. #BREAKTHETHREAD THIS ENTIRE POST WAS LEADING UP TO THIS POINT THANK YOU FOR STICKING WITH ME IF YOU MANAGED TO. IT ALL COMES DOWN TO ONE WORD. ONE WORD THAT I THINK BUNGIE HAS NEVER HEARD BEFORE. DIVERSITY. DIVERSITY. DIVERSITY. BUNGIE SPELLED BACKWARDS = DIVERSITY. D-I-V-E-R-S-I-T-Y. DIVER CITY = OCCUPATION NOT BUNGIE. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I WANT TO PLAY A GAME THAT IS PREDICATED ON GRINDING IN ORDER TO EVENTUALLY GRIND TO BE THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE. IT'S LIKE ANY LEVEL OF COMMUNITY/SOCIETY. PEOPLE WORK TOWARD BEING DIFFERENT. PEOPLE WORK TOWARD DIFFERENT GOALS AND OUTCOMES. DESTINY HAS CREATED A SOCIETY, IN WHICH EVERYONE WINDS UP THE SAME. IT'S LIKE A BRAVE NEW WORLD FOR GOD SAKES. WE'RE ALL PREDETERMINED TO BE LEVEL 32'S WITH THE SAME 3 PIECES OF ARMOR ASIDE FROM THE 10 CLASS SPECIFIC EXOTICS THAT ARE OHHHHHH SO RARE (SARCASM, OBVIOUSLY). THEN WAIT, IT GETS EVEN BETTER. WE ALL WIND UP RECEIVING THE SAME RARE GUNS FROM THE SAME EVENTS AND THE SAME RARE SHADERS AND SAME RARE VEHICLES. BEFORE I EVEN GO TO INSPECT A PLAYER I CAN GUESS 85% OF THE ARMOR/WEAPONS/SHADERS/VEHICLES THAT THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE EQUIPPED. THIS IS TERRIBLE. HORRID DESIGN. I am actually ranting right now so let me digress. This part is specifically aimed at Bungie. #Bungie #Bungie #AimedatBungie This game that you have created, which is in many ways a monster can be fixed. When I say fixed by no means do I mean perfected. You will never be able to make this game what it really can be unless you scrap it to the bare gameplay and mechanics. I am proposing that you overhaul the item and loot system. This is what could make the game a star and what I believe is currently holding it back. I am going to list some of the changes that you should/could make without releasing a new game altogether. 1. Add many more weapons and armor. The current number of weapons and armor is actually laughable. I see the same BLUE GUNS AND ARMOR ALL THE TIME (**** YOU HANNIBAL- E). I see the same legendaries and exotics all the time lol. I write lol because these are [b]LEGENDARY[/b] and [b]EXOTIC[/b] items. How could these items make the user feel special, when so many people have them? If they were truly what their titles make them out to be they would be extremely rare and hard to achieve. If you add more items to the game and balance the middle-high tier weapons together this will help achieve this harmony im going for. Make rare items actually good, and make legendaries great and make exotics amazing... What a phenomenon right? 2. Massively increase the amount of weapon, armor and item drops. Drops of any calibur. Even if you're a 30 you should see white drops, green drops etc. What this does is actually makes the game feel like you're earning something by playing. Allow the players to scrap the guns for parts/glimmer/bounties/etc. What this also does is amplify the feeling of achievment and excitement when you actually get something that's "legendary" or "exotic". With the current system in place you feel like you're getting nothing most of the time. The only times you get something good are [b]predictable circumstance[/b]. 3. Predictable Circumstance. Bungie, everything does not have to be so cut and dry. Any item you get in this game is a result of do some sort of quest to achieve it. If you actually had random weapon drops I should be able to find an icebreaker from a dreg or a thrall. But no. I have to find an icebreaker through either a, b or c. a. nightfall completion b. chest during the raid c. lucky crucible drop that hardly feels good because it doesn't even make thematical sense to receive random weapon rewards at the end of a multiplayer competition. You just throw random items at random players it's actually retarded. There should always be a chance of getting something amazing through anything in the game. Any strike, any enemy should be able to give me what I'm looking for. 4. Weapon and armor balance. I've never seen a game so bland when it comes to item stats. WHY ON EARTH DOES EVERY GUN HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME 331 AT MAX DMG. It literally sucks the excitement out of a stat that normally is the apex of excitement in everyother game when finding new items. Why can't every gun have different visible damage stats. For instance icebreaker does 891 dmg when maxed and black hammer does 995. This would actually make the guns feel different! We know how much you like diversity though bungie! I have probably never ranted this hard in my life. Additionally, I've gotten off topic numerous times due to so much pent up frustration toward this game. There are so many things I would want to fix that I can't properly express myself.
