Everything to know about the Darkness(Referred to as Bob)

Hello once again friends, this is part 2 of the who do you want to know 3 poll. I thought i wouldnt find much on the darkness and traveler, but actually had over 10000 characters on the traveler alone. Here I will tackle as promised the Darkness. Now there's an issue there. We have the Traveler, and the light but then we have the darkness and the darkness. From this point on the physical representation will be referred to as Bob. The influence, as in the hive are corrupted by the darkness, will be the darkness. Lets start this with the grimoire, because quite frankly other than Bob is mean and is trying to kill us etc...etc... Once again, we're brought back to the Ghost Fragment for the FWC. To recap it, essentially the FWC discovered a device which can be used to predict the future. This device predicted that 11 times that Bob had already prevailed, in 13 timelines the city fell, and 23 just came out mad. Minds lost among the void, among the future? The Exo Stranger walks in the darkness, i do not know currently, but i feel that does not mean that she is on its side. Perhaps only that she is devoid of light? Perhaps she has aligned herself with it as Toland and many other guardians have, and now is trying to destroy it from the inside? We are also brought back to the black garden card.
The Traveler is life, i said. You are a creature of darkness. you seek to deceive me. But i looked behind me, down the long slope where the blossoms tumbled in the warm wind and the great trees wept sap like blood or wine, and i felt doubt.
The garden was wrapped in darkness before we came in and forced the black heart out, I feel strongly that there are grimoire cards that can not be trusted. Not to imply Bungie lied to us in them, but that the darkness actually corrupts, and when you get down to it so does the traveler. Both entities push the boundaries of our mind, and warp it to fit their needs, what's to say that some of these cards these memories can't have been warped and corrupted? A big argument for the previously stated is ghost fragment legends 2. This fragment describes what the nine are, it describes nine different things that the nine are.
The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival. The Nine are deep-orbit warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms. The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan. The Nine arrived in a mysterious transmission from the direction of the Corona-Borealis supercluster. The Nine are the firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube. The Nine are Ghosts who pierced the Deep Black without a ship and meditated on the hissing silence of the heliopause. The Nine are the aspects of the Darkness, broken by the Traveler's rebuke, working to destroy us from within. The Nine is a viral language of pure meaning. The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.
This is a card that you can't take literally. Whether it was an encrypted ghost, an encrypted message a ghost scanned, or something a ghost found and someone else corrupted to hide the truth i don't know for sure. A popular theory is that the nine are actually the nine warminds that defend each planet. I subscribe to this theory being very likely I can't wait to dive more into the hive, they actually fight a crusade against the light. They clearly worship the darkness on a whole different level. I think that there is an important distinction. There is the light and the dark, the traveler and Bob. The vex worship Bob, but the hive worship the dark. Ghost fragment Hive shows some of eris' last thoughts as she thought she was doomed to die in crotas lair. The sword he wields is pure darkness, and swallows the light. In fact the light only made it "hungry" many of us have plunged into crotas realm and found his sword impressive. It seems while Bob may have a sense of control over the dark, there are other ways to manipulate it. However, it is possible that Bob has visited the Hive just as the traveler visited us. Just as Jacob noticed an aura around the traveler on mars, Bob has an aura. This was the cosmic blast that killed the golden age. simply entering our solar system was enough to massively wound us, and with the last effort of the traveler we never saw what the Bob truly was. This left everything open to debate.
All we have left are questions. Centuries of debate gave birth to competing arguments on the nature of the Darkness and the Collapse. The Pujari Position describes the Darkness as a force with both physical and moral presence, an actualization of evil. Pujari art depicts the Darkness as a great storm, or as a change in conduct, a corruption that emerged from within and poisoned the Golden Age. Saint-14's Position argues that the Darkness was an invading armada, an alien force of incredible - but tangible - power. Some adherents believe that this armada sprang from species rejected or discarded by the Traveler for their sins. Ulan-Tan's Thesis considers the Darkness a necessary symmetry to the Traveler in a cosmic balance. In this view, the Traveler's goodness led it to sacrifice for others, and it is up to us to return this goodness by healing the Traveler. The Monist Position, or the Deflationary Position, considers the Darkness as a technologically sophisticated force, perhaps a post-Singularity intelligence. Adherents invoke information theory or contend that the universe is a simulation, allowing advanced intelligence to gain weakly acausal powers by bending the rules. The Acataleptic Clause claims that we are intrinsically unable to understand the Darkness. In many respects this belief parallels the Praxic Creed, which suggests that we should stop worrying about the nature of the Darkness and focus on resisting and defeating it. Certain positions - often labeled heretical - imply that the Traveler itself triggered the Collapse, or that it knew the Darkness was coming for it and hoped to use the Solar System as a sacrifice or a proxy army. The Binary Star cult is one notable example.
The 4 darkness cards do not relate to one another. The first is presumably the response of rasputin to Bob entering our solar system theres an amazing fanfic about this event on the forums, if someone can find the link I'd love to give that guy a bump The second one is a dream of alpha lupi, which essentially means i haven't the slightest idea what so ever what it could be. I place the fourth before the third for impact. Darkness 4 stands more against the traveler than anything else. It really ties together with the theory that the traveler is manipulating us. The third however is different. this is from the journals of Toland. I believe he is like the Stranger, walking in the darkness but not evil. I don't wish to get too into him when I'm sure there will be a legends post coming soon Toland has seen into the darkness and because of that knows things that shouldn't be known. Most importantly is that he understands what Bob is. Doing so has absolutely destroyed his mind though and he now has a hard time explaining it. He explains that things happen because they happen.
Why do we have atoms? Because atomic matter is more stable than primordial broth. Atoms defreated the broth. That was the first war. There were two ways to be and one of them won. And everything that came next was made of atoms.
He then goes on to tell of three great nations under three great queens. The first queen creates law rules justly, the second builds a great tower and brings her people to the stars, the third raises an army and conquers all. Only one queen will rule the future, and the victor is obvious. Now lets there's another nation, with its own queens, but these queens got together and made one law, one tower, and one army.
This is the dream of small minds: a gentle place ringed in spears. But i do not think those spears will hold against the queen of the country of armies. And that is all that will matter in the end.
Toland describes the Bob here as the queen of the army, and us brought together under New Monarchy and their laws, Dead orbit reaching for the stars, and the Future War Cult with its army, are sadly ringed in spears. Just waiting for the next attack. This has been your friendly neighborhood AnonPig, Thankyou for reading. • I really like the idea of the traveler using the guardians. I also believe that Bob is another traveler, a dimensional sphere. Something that seems to not belong in our universe but came from another. They are a dimension themselves. In some freak accident the traveler was pushed into this world. There it either took the DimSphere shape by choice or another being created it's shell. This could also lead to the origins of the Vex. They were born from light, built into a material either from the other dimensions or from a distant solar system. They then built the shell for the traveler. The traveler then went through this universe spreading light. The vex were given the ability to bend reality. They served the traveler in created a better universe, Helping the traveler. By bending reality too much Bob was let in. Bob started spreading darkness as an entity. Bob corrupted most or all of the Vex (maybe there are still light Vex out there). The Vex then created a shell for Bob and traveled with Bob across the universe in search of their creator to destroy it. The Traveler uses light as its tool, where Bob is darkness. Bob, with the help of the Vex and Hive, has weakened the traveler and taking control of most of out solar system. The traveler is still stronger then Bob and can repel him to an extent. The Vex allowed Bob to gain control over most of the system but because they are corrupted light that can't actually find or attack the Traveler. This would explain why they took mercury, venus, and mars. They are trying to trap their creator. But cannot actually get near the traveler. So Bob is just chilling in space somewhere. This is where the Hive comes in. The vex cannot breach the light. But the Hive (Not being born of light) were born in darkness. They traveled with Bob along his route. Bob knew the Vex could not touch the Traveler so he needed another army to go in the for kill (why the hive is only on earth and the moon) Bob is the God of both Vex and Hive. The Hive out of religeous passion attack the light. The Vex seek their creator, to destroy it for Bob. The Gaurdians are the only reason Bob has not won.

 • Awesome, awesome, awesome. I can't wait for the Legends topic. Toland is certainly my favorite, his wisdom and obsession with the Hive and Darkness seems to almost expose the truth regarding the Speaker and Traveler - possibly the reasoning behind his exile. I mean, is it coincidence that any Guardians that have extensive knowledge of the Darkness or any of its species is has influenced (Hive & Vex, mainly) are deemed mad and forced into exile? Toland: Hive Osiris: Vex Eris: Hive (semi-mad, per Zavala) Who's to say that Kabr saught help from the Vanguard in fighting the Vex in the Vault and was deemded mad as well, forcing him to rely on his own rag-tag fireteam that ultimately fails and dooms each one (in their respective ways). They are always too little, too late - and the Speaker has some voice (see what I did there LOL) in almost all of these manners. If the Vanguard is truly a Congress to the Speaker, why isn't all the information known amongst them all shared? Ikora seems to be the most open-minded of the three, and being a Warlock may help tie the knot between the sorcery & magic that interconnects all the minions of the dark and some exiled Guardians...
Dredgon Yor fell to the Darkness and created Thorn... Toland learned to commune with the Darkness and created Bad JuJu... How many other weapons will be forged by Guardians of the Dark?
