Secret of the BOUNTY LOGO: think about it !!!
Let me preface this mess by stating this is just a theory. And it's just for fun. And no, I don't smoke crack. Anymore.
So, How many people have noticed the logo on the sign next to the Bounty Board at the Tower? (See pic below) It's attached at the top left side with a bunch of Y shaped designs. If you look at the tower map, this is the same symbol that represents where the bounty tracker is located. To many people it just looks like a random bunch of lines. To those of us in the medical field, it is very clearly a group of ANTIBODIES. (Pics linked below for your viewing enjoyment)
[b]So here's my theory:[/b]
We guardians are quite literally an immune system. Specifically, [b][i](but metaphorically)[/i][/b]we are the white blood cells. The bounties we receive are just marching orders from the immune system to attack a variety of pathogens throughout the system...
The Darkness? It's clearly an infection, or an autoimmune disease, or a cancer. The Hive, Cabal, Fallen are all foreign bodies to this Solar System, and it has triggered a massive immune response.
[b][i]Maybe, in order to protect itself the Solar System has become an organism. Or perhaps it has been one all along...[/i][/b]
It's not clear if the Traveller is responsible for [i]helping [/i]the solar system create this defense, or if it [i]is the source of this new infection[/i] (my guess is the War Minds created a defense network based on the immune system it found within organic species found on Earth).
I could go on, but I'm interested to hear your theories. Go on, let's give this hypothesis a whirl.

Edit to clarify: antibodies are used by our immune systems to 'tag' and identify the pathogen. Then the B cells and Helper T cells (Ghosts and Guardians?) work together to eliminate the tagged pathogen. The Bounty Guy 'tags' and identifies the various threats around the solar system.

1 ReplyCool theory, but its a bunch of caltrops actually, they use that symbol in adventure card games. if they were inverted they yeah for sure receptors on cell surface would be what i would think.

I've long believed that just as we humans are essentially gestalt entities, made up of billions of individual living things (cells) , so could the Earth be a singular organism composed of billions of other smaller entities, and as such the Earth could be a part of an even larger entity, and so on. this theory kind of plays into that, and I like it.

More or less, if you work in Illustrator or any type of art producing program, you are making 45 degree lines. The designer probably made that ish in 2 seconds based off other shape language from their art work.

Dr. Shim is who you're referring to, and Shin Malphur is part of the "The Last Word" story. I understand the mistake. Dr. Shim was a part of the Ishtar Collective studying a captured Vex during the Golden Age. There are 4 grimoire cards on the whole exchange. These cards are also quite possibly the source of the theory that the entirety of all the events in Destiny so far are happening inside of a Vex simulation. If I find them again I'll post them here.

Awesome theory man. I love it. This is why I love the grimoire stories... They feed an imagination so well. Especially the Dr Shim card.. The vex are scary!

13 RepliesDr Shim was a half man, half woman hybrid genetically created by the Fallen under control of The Queen in an effort to reverse engineer Guardian physiology. The plan backfired when Dr Shim escaped and came to the tower, (Obviously not a Dr yet) and received his/her education and eventually left for Venus to work at the Archive unlocking the secrets of the Golden Age in an effort to aid the Guardians in repelling the darkness and ultimately defeating the Fallen, Cabal and pushing the Awoken out of the Sol system. Look it up.
