The Only BR/AR Thread
Due to the incessant amount of spam and repeat posting about the topic of the design of the Battle Rifle and the Assault Rifle in Halo 3, all threads about these topics will be locked on sight and the author warned (then banned if they keep doing it). Please discuss the BR and AR and your thoughts in this thread and this thread alone.
For reference, Bungie's response to all comments and complaints about the design of the Battle Rifle can be found [url=/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14347] in the weekly update for June 20th, 2008[/url].
People expecting further Bungie responses on the issue are likely to be disappointed.

the BR is the ultimate weapon for long range and if ur really nasty than close range all day.

OK LISTEN UP THE BR FIRES IN BURST and it has 4 shot kill BUUUUUT it has 3 round burst what if 1 or two bullets missed which is likely then well ...... the dmr would screw you btw dmr wins anyway because you control how fast you shoot and how accurate the shots are a br can NNNNNNOOOOOOOOTTT DMR>br

The BR was a great idea back in the day, it changed quite a bit through out the series. 3 Round burst was the way to go, or maybe a nice Adjustable Rate of Fire.. but then what happens? The -blam!- DMR >_< *raaaage* I've never had so many problems with one weapon in my life, I'd rather just use it as a base ball bat. I ended up selling my Halo:Reach and ODST because I grew bored of them, friend threw in some games to trade we got Assassins Creed Brotherhood which he ended up taking as well. Fml.

I like the BR and AR about the same but the AR is better for close to mid range and the BR is better for med to long range. [Edited on 05.19.2011 11:37 AM PDT]

MA37 > MA5C BR55 > DMR The MA5C may be have that classic firing noise that sounds as if it's silenced along with that satisfying "charge-and-shoot-while-running-straight-at-the-guy-then-melee-him" kill, but the MA37 from Reach allowed me to adjust my fire rate at different ranges to make sure none of my bullets miss. Personally, I prefer the DMR's single shot firing over the BR's three burst but the later just has a cooler appearance and reticule.

I like the way the BR looks but the 3 shot burst is quite annoying. Also, the don't like the look of the AR. Of course though, it is all about opinion and I doubt Bungie will change this.

This shouldn't even be an argument. The Battle Rifle beats the DMR by far and probably beats all guns in the Halo universe as well. Despite the fact that it will probably (and hopefully) lose to someone wielding a Shotgun at point-blank range, and more than likely lose a fight against an enemy with the Sniper Rifle in a cross-map battle, it is still the generally best weapon at all ranges. At close, it's moderately good. At far, it's moderately good. But at a medium range... it's not even a competition. It's just going to win every time. I feel like a machine wielding that thing, and I rack up kills with it like one too.

Each one has it's moment, TBH. I do prefer the BR 90% of the time, however.

I agree with you the BR is fine and a good weapon I wish it was in Halo Reach instead of the DMR anyway i use a BR alot but actually i was surprised to find that my multiplayer tool of destruction is actually my fists which is weird cause i'm usually a stealthy sniping son of a -blam!- anyway the BR is a nice sidearm for snipers as it allows for short distance sniping and close combat situation though I usually have an energy sword instead just cause it looks bad ass anyway the BR is a great tool so is the AR i actually use the AR alot more than any other weapon because in multiplayer its usually what you start with so yeah -EVB Church
