The Only BR/AR Thread
Due to the incessant amount of spam and repeat posting about the topic of the design of the Battle Rifle and the Assault Rifle in Halo 3, all threads about these topics will be locked on sight and the author warned (then banned if they keep doing it). Please discuss the BR and AR and your thoughts in this thread and this thread alone.
For reference, Bungie's response to all comments and complaints about the design of the Battle Rifle can be found [url=/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14347] in the weekly update for June 20th, 2008[/url].
People expecting further Bungie responses on the issue are likely to be disappointed.

The BR is good in medium and short range it just needs more enlargement when zooming 3 round burts are good but the rifle in Reach has 15 trigger pulls ad is maybe 1%-10% more power while BR has twelve rifle pulls. Otherwise a good weapon and also I will talk about the AR and send message if U want me to talk more about the BR. Now the AR is good medium and short, 32 shots yet entire clip and meleeing to take a single player down, not good for long range ambush unlease your sitting preety, and I know it has happend to me LOL. It has 12 clips perfect magzine ammo more than a ordinary BR, which and I quote 4 clips. If I were to choose one I would take both but If were one were present I would also take a side arm (plasma pistol and a pistol) or a energy sword. I will also start a weapon thrad.

AR is crap and anybody who doesn't veto for BRs is crap too.

In Halo 3, a skilled AR user can always beat a BR user in CQC. Now in Reach, spamming the DMR at close range will pretty much guarantee a kill against a player with an MA37. This is also due to no bleedthrough with melee.

There is nothing to complain about the BR or AR in multiplayer. Every player is evenly matched in Team BR's and the multiplayer maps are well set-up with BR's.

You do know that Halo 4 will be made by Microsoft's 343 Industries, not Bungie (unfortunately), right? @partyboy1. I think the Battle Rifle is a good weapon, but I personally like the Assault Rifle more because I think that it is more reliable. [Edited on 07.19.2011 9:24 PM PDT]

a connection reliant BR will be forever broken on XBL. The Halo 3 BR is only fine on LAN. On XBL it is broken.

I know what is wrong with both AR and BR: In SWAT when you have to five burst everyone (most likely every game) with the BR and in normal games when you get shot through walls 2-3 times by an AR, that´s what´s wrong! <--- My opinion...

BR IS PERFECT, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, IT'S MOST LIKELY BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO SKILL WITH IT.... USE IT MORE AND YOU'LLGET BETTER OVER TIME. (G_G)

BR is better than AR.

Anyone who complains are idiots. It depends on how good you are the BR or AR. Here are my opinions on each weapon. AR: classic weapon. I take down the shield the lob a grenade in halo trial online, that and the sniper get my kills. BR: Great, in campaign, on grunts. The agency on the protection of Uggnoy will be happy that I kill them with a BR. Though lowering it for a Machinima is good. Just don't use the AR in an MLG playlist.

uh huh but the perfect dmr kill takes 5 shots to kill with jus a single shot each trigger. but the BR (if your good) takes ony 4shots with 3 round burst each trigger. do the math..

the BR is the ultimate weapon for long range and if ur really nasty than close range all day.
