Currently Vanguard or Crucible level 2 is enough to buy armor that grants level 31. While this is nice for leveling new characters, why not offer different tiers of Vanguard and Crucible armor for rank 2, 4, 6 and so on with the light leveling increasing as you get higher. The same could go for the factions as well. This would not only stop quick jumps to just below the max level, but also keep old raids relevant as they would be a quicker way to reach a higher level than grinding a few vanguard ranks. After Comet or even House of Wolves drops, will a mid level 20 be able to jump to the high 30's by simply buying armor and grinding for rep? The problem with jumps to 31 from the dark below will be even worse.
