I keep losing connection to my controller in Destiny [XBOX 360]

Hi, I've been playing Destiny for about 3 weeks now and the past week has been annoying as hell. Almost every minute, my 360 controller loses the connection and I have to reconnect it every time. I changed the batteries a few times and I'm 100% sure they're full, I tried it with my 2nd controller and got the same problem and there's nothing blocking or interfering with the signal. This is really stressing me out, because I already get thrown out of the game ever 30 minutes with the caterpillar error code and now my controller also loses connection every 1 or 2 minutes. And right now I've been playing GTA 5 for an hour or 2 and my controller is still doing fine, so it's Destiny causing this problem. What can I do about this, because it feels like I wasted a lot of money on a game that doesn't let me play it.

My best guess is that when you downloaded the update(s) you scored some damaged packets. The simplest fix is to delete all downloaded content by going pressing the Xbox button>System>Storage>HardDrive>Games>scroll to destiny and select>manually delete every file. No worries as to save games, everything pertaining to your save game is saved on destiny's servers. You will have to adjust any game settings once you reinstall the game (ie. brightness, look sensitivity), as this information is stored on your harddrive. Also, delete the cache prior to re-installing the game. To do this, press the Xbox button>system>storage>highlight harddrive and press Y>clear system cache. Now you're ready to install the game. As soon as you load the game up, you will be prompted to download/install the update. Pain in the ass, but this should resolve your issue. Happy hunting guardian!

    • Does this all the time on the X1, just randomly drops connection but stays connected to the console. Only happens on Destiny

    • You should sell your Xbox 360

Same here. Ever since launch. My controller will disconnect from the console (x1) randomly - even if I have it plugged in at the time. It's caused a few untimely deaths. Pain in the arse.

      • Im on the Ps4 so im not too familiar with xbox, but i guess you should start playing with the controller wired to the xbox. If you're still losing connection, i would say it's the controller. Maybe try the hard reset button on the controller? (i think xbox controllers have those right?)

      • Dude, I know a guy that had the same problem and he knew a lot about the red ring thing on the 360s and then did some minor repair work/mods on X1s. After looking into it, he found the problem was near the connector plugin on the front. It was the big X right near it. That usually means it sucks, so he went and got a PS.

        • Keep it wired. Then you don't have to worry about batteries or connection issues. My batteries last no time at all with my headset lol
