Don't waste the motes of light, the weapons aren't updated to the standard damage of the expansion. Meaning they are still only 300/300 and not 331/331 max.
Edit: Tried with Timurs Lash, just changed the upgrades and not actually upgrade the total damage.
Edit v2: With the coming House of Wolves expansion, you will be able upgrade ANY Legendary gear, so that means Iron Banner weapons as well.

A 300 Timur's Lash out classes nearly every current Vanguard gun at 331. It 1 shots thralls during the Crota fight, nearly 1 shots Acolytes, and just plain wrecks regardless.

This is what people are talking about when they say Bungie is tone deaf, and slaps dedicated fans in the face. People who got the IB stuff last time had to grind everyday for a week, and I got the Lash on last day after about 120+ rounds. Spent a TON of shards and energy to upgrade them, and then find out later that the new gear is higher attack, and light level. I NEVER would have even bothered spending the ascendant material or even doing the IB at all if I knew that two weeks later that stuff was pointless. I HATE the way this stuff is being handled.

F@ck this game.
-
I do believe there should be a way to upgrade IB gear, considering it's always 'the same', there's never necessarily new looking stuff as far as I know, right? That said, it should be separate from re-forging. It could cost something else, like maybe a strange coin, or a coin + mote, and that will allow you to take your weapon, as it is perk wise, but simply upgrade the damage.
-
Everyone crying about this is a retard. Only the weapons got stronger, not the enemies, so in the end it doesn't matter and you are all just wasting time crying like farm peasants children
-
Thanks for the heads-up! Was wondering about this!
-
Guess I should have searched. Just posted a similar topic. Luckily for me I had a backup Gheleon's Demise to test it on. Did't want to lose my current awesome setup. Noticed that it didn't update the DMG rating.
-
Found this out the hard way. Bungie really dropped the ball by not allowing players to re-roll old IB gear.
-
yes, stupid thing, I waste hour and hours looking for that gun and all the banner armor now, it is trash. Bungie had to implement any kind of upgrade, hard if you wanna, but an option so you can continue with your favorite guns and armors.
-
I stashed my Timur's Lash without leveling it up. I'll level it with the IB bounties this go around. Who knows, maybe I'll get a good drop or two like last time.
-
Lol the one thing I was looking forward to doing in destiny this week..oh well
-
It would have been nice to allow reforging our old IB weapons for new 331 specs, since the weapons are the same for all IB's. I managed to get the Scout and FR (bought), and MG (RNG) from past IBs, and really wasn't up for praying to RNG to lottery ticket me the new32 versions. 2 IBs = 1 RNG Blessing? No thanks. Reforging to 331 would have been a perfect opportunity for Bungie to throw the long-term players a bone. Ah well, I'll stick to regular Crucible this time around. No biggie. But this should be in the IB suggestion box for next time.

Edited by VanZanSlevin: 12/16/2014 10:11:58 PMSince Iron Banner totes itself as a test of your weapon and armor's power Bungie should definitely fix the reroll so that it ups the attack value on IB weapons. Even better would be if Eris had a reroll feature that worked on VoG weapons but only to up their attack since those really are meant to have the perks they have.
-
Wasted several motes before I figured this out lol
-
Edited by Captain Rawly: 12/16/2014 8:52:15 PMBungie need to fix this - i hadn't actually spotted the low damage and was enjoying the IB - But I was only doing it for the weapons and boots
-
Does anyone at least know what the random drops in this weeks iron banner are? Trying to decide if it's worth playing at all tbh.
-
What is the atk on the weapons you can buy ?
-
Yeah Wtf I tried with Gaylord's demise and got some pretty good perks then saw it was at 300. Why the -blam!- would they do that? Well grind iron banner this week then next week they'll do something to make it obselete again
-
Bungie isn't even trying to pretend to give a shit anymore. I'm pretty much done with this game. I just want to complete Crota once so I can say I did it and then log off forever.
-
I agree this is a mistake
-
Pretty pissed about this. Timur's Lash and Jolders Hammer are 2 of the best guns in the game. They were lucky drops for most and can't be upgraded? What's worse is we can't even break them for energies. Bullshit
-
Thanks for the heads up! I was wondering if a reforge would give more damage output. I'm glad I didn't do it first.
-
This along with gear being the same as vendor gear makes the Iron Banner completely pointless… The only interesting item is the sniper rifle but it's just not worth the grind. Sigh.
-
Thank you. I think Saladin should do something like Xur and accept 7500 Glimmer and 7 Coins/Motes for the upgrade, as well as having the reroll option for motes.
-
That really stinks. Im glad I checked the forums first. I really wanted a way to fix my Scout Rifle from last Iron Banner. I barely had a chance to use it, and the amount of time and resources I spent to get it just perfect was not nearly worth it. If I knew for one second that they would pull this on us I would have skipped it altogether. Iron Banner is not fun IMHO and being subjected to the same 4 maps for days on end for rewards you cannot get anywhere else, and made obsolete by the next Iron Banner event just makes it not worth the time. I will hold onto my old Iron Banner gear for now (its not like breaking it down gives you anything anyway.) in hopes Bungie gets their act together and patches in the upgrades for old Iron Banner gear. I don't plan on taking on any more events, and would even go as far as suggesting that you put the game down altogether until they restore our gamer's trust. Right now the game is extremely unstable and the next patch may or may not make your hard work obsolete. It's just not worth it.

People are idiots IMO for assuming this
