A moment to discuss the state of Destiny since September

So having played since launch, I feel like it's a good time to discuss what's been happening and how things have changed since september. Lets keep in mind that everyone is allowed their opinion and douchebag replies to said opinions are not needed, as are simple douchebag posts that offer nothing. Keep it civil. Destiny has changed a lot since September, some of it good, some not so good. With things like the loot cave-style abuse being attended to, voice chat in fireteams being added, and the recent purchaseable planet mats, it's obvious that Bungie DOES in fact listen to us. So everyone should keep that in mind when we all have issues regarding less than stellar changes to the game. First, the raid. Lets be honest with ourselves, the Atheon and Templar shove patches were completely necessary, albeit the fixes were dopey. No boss fight should be that easy, and A.I. should really be less easy to exploit honestly. That being said, I know many of us are fed up with the issues still needing to be addressed in the raid such as Vex randomly getting health restores when teleporting or the portals gumming up and not allowing us to exit out or worse...It should be noted that these probably aren't glitches so much as just poor network connectivity resulting in servers making adjustments to calculations made in error. Is it still on Bungie to fix it, sure is but lets be fair on that note, you're talking about compensating for everyone in the world's internet connnectivity, it takes time to figure out. Be angry about it, sure, but be civil about it as well. The more we mention it, the more priority it takes. Further, the drops from the run, especially off Atheon himself, are something that has the entire community up in arms. It is pretty weaksauce to have the best pieces of equipment share a drop pool with silly shaders and a vehicle that is only used on the overworld, which let's face it, we spend very little time in most cases. It definitely needs to be addressed better in the future, and I hope we can keep bringing it up so Bungie comes up with a plan of action for it. I'm sure people have more issues to mention, and please say so here, this is here for people to talk about. Drop rates have been something people feel really strongly about, and it's a diverse opinion regarding it. I know many people here have come from MMOs like WoW or FFXI and XIV, and feel that legendaries don't drop as infrequently as some might feel. I don't have an issue with the drop rates myself, especially after the cryptarch fix, but others would disagree. To be honest, I feel like maybe we should have less options for getting legendaries and exotics, maybe take the Xur sales away or better yet have him sell the exotic bounties instead, but again, my piece of mind here. I urge anyone who replies here to go ahead and reply with their ideas and such. I know one of the biggest conplaints my group of friends has is the lack of individuality between players. It's all very cookie cutter, with all the same armor between characters and most of the time the same weapons. It'd be nice to customize more than the color of the armor and add something to our weapon options, like maybe optional perks perhaps from Xur in the future. I know more things need to be addressed and hopefully some people will bring them up here. I just wanna take a second and remind people that Destiny is a major work in progress. We have the ability to help shape this game into something really impressive if we approach it like adults. This game still has some of the most solid controls and gameplay in an FPS, and some of the best visuals out there still. It's obvious it has that Halo feel still, and most of us will always say that Halo had a profound effect on our view of the genre. Be upset that problems exist, but be mature about expressing your anger about it. We can get things fixed if we spend less time yelling at each other about our disagreeing opinions. Edit: Yeah yeah, typo fixed, get a good laugh in.

  • I always wonder why topics resembling an intelligent, reasonable conversation are usually ignored, yet the trending topics page is always.filled with the same lame topics. bump. The thread needs a bump. Have a reasonable, intelligent conversation for once, destiny community.

  • It is clear that Bungie is listening to the community. That is good. Unfortunately, Bungie cannot do anything now about the fact that they sold us half a game at full price. Nothing can change the fact that in order to get a full game we will have to shell out 40 more dollars (assuming that the next two DLCs will be priced st 20 dollars each). I'm not a hater. I love playing Destiny. But at some point we need to take our gamer hats off and put our consumer hats on. Destiny's content is not up to standard. Its just not. The fact that we still run around doing the same stuff over and over again is a testament to behavioral psychology, not the quality of the game. (variable ratio schedule's of reinforcement, etc). As a diehard Bungie and Destiny fan, I need my voice to be heard when I say "this is not okay." This has nothing to do with re-leveling exotics, or whatever issue everyone is flipping out about today. This has nothing to do with the details. It has everything to do with the Big Picture. Bungie, needs to acknowledge the fact that they risk representing everything that is wrong with the next-Gen game industry. But honestly, it is gamers that make excuses for this behavior that are the problem. The fanboys that will accept every sin a developer makes, simply because they self-identify ad a "fan." Therr are no excuses. If you've been following the development of Destiny from the very beginning, you know very well that Destiny is nothing we hoped it would be. You can still enjoy something, still be a fan, and criticize at the same time. I criticize because I am a fan. I criticize because I want Destiny to be a shining beacon for the future of gaming. I criticize because I want Bungie to continue to be a developer than stands for quality, that stands for the interest of the gamer. A Variable Ratio Schedule of reinforcement is not a replacement for content. This needs to be the mantra of every gamer who truly cares about this game.
