What is the best weapon really.
Their is no best weapon really,if you had a plasma sword,sure you can kill something instantly with your lunge attack,but if they don't know there could be a sniper with a great head shot,and with a sniper it is really useless when in close range.

I hear both rumours about no pistol and new pistol, but as far as Im aware theres no definitive asnwer from Bungie on it. I think pistol is best weapon in Halo 'cos its good for close and long range. I assume in Halo 2 its gonna be similar, no weapon is a certain always keeper. Sometimes in Halo I got rid of it as I did with the sniper or the rocket launcher. So I guess it'll depend on the situation, but the new BR looks like it'll kick ass. Be a good all round weapon but Im gonna assume Bungie will make it an all-round weapon only and not rediculously good, with others better for certain situations, eg SMG better for close up, sniper for long range, and alien equivalents with their pros and cons. Pistol is definately the best weapon.It can kill any enemy reasonably quick and take down hunters in 1 shot.kapeesh.

BR has more bullets then pistol but less power

All the weapons was balanced in Halo and hope so in Halo 2 too.Yesit depends on the player not the weapons. I like to rush em with AR and a plasma rifle/needler and with some frag grenades,tasty collection of death spreaders :)

i dont care what anyone thinks but i think that the battle rifle is going to be the best weapon... 3 shot bursts, with scope single shot like the pistol... if it still only takes 3 shots to kill someone in MP, then the 3 shot burst is going to be my best friend, given of course they're using the same bullets as the pistol. the BR is IMO simply the most versatile weapon, in any situation..

In the first Halo, I'd say the overall best weapon was the Pistol. Good for short and fairly long range, and if you're good enough it only takes three shots to kill someone. In Halo 2, I'm sure my favorite weapon will be the plasma sword, even though you can only get a good swing from like 15-20 feet away or so.

When you play, find what you like, are you a sniper, hiding, waiting, for the perfect moment that will turn the tide? Or are you Brute force, hitting heavy with grenades and rocket launchers? Maybe The quick shot, coming in, hidden, avoiding major battles, and take out individually.The thing is bungie tried to even out the odds with the weapons. if u have the plasma sword u have the instant kill lunge attack. to counter the cheapness of that you can duel weild which allows u to kill twice as fast. so your right there really isnt a good weapon. it depends on the player and the skill he can use the weapon.For me it is the MA5B or the SRS99C S2 AM(the later I actually snipe, not camp or sharpshoot). Then there is the M6D, which people -blam!- about too much.i would have 2 say a long ranged shotgun, with a 2x aimer but it's just a fantasy, but i'm sure in the year 2552 it would be possible.Good point.Its not the weapon, its the weilder....
