Some context first.
Alright
So you're going down super long halls and massive chambers, carrying your scout rifle with a watchful eye for those ever-present hordes of thrall.
Then, the dark door behind you opens silently, releasing a squadron of chosen knights.
The sniper you have equipped is useless, and the zoom on that scout rifle will get you killed, doing only about 200 a hit.
You need your hand cannon, you long for that shotgun.
But switching weapons will be far too difficult, you have no option but to turn tail and...
Be stabbed whacked and shot to death. Possibly scratched.
Maybe even fall off in the panic.
TL;DR
What I suggest, is a way to swap between 2 weapons for each weapon class, without pulling up the actual menu. Holding the circle button has no use (not sure what it is for Xbox), so we could utilize that.
Ammo reduction of course, would still apply. Getting a magnet fusion rifle then switching to that sniper with firefly would be too easy.

Yes, get rid of the point and wave emotives and change the right and left d pad buttons to swap between two weapons per class. I NEVER use close range weapons in PvE because I have to go through a menu to switch from a shotty to a sniper. Good idea would be to disable this for crucible though.

deff like this idea. some sort of quick swap to rotate weapons especially because you can only have one exotic and may want to swap when heavy weapon ammo drops
-
That would be nice for some sort of synergistic rotation between weapons... even primary, special, and heavy... Could add some serious depth in gameplay.
-
Bump! This would be quite handy! Or just swapping load outs all together! It's such a pain having to adjust weapons mid strike/raid/whatever. I can see how this should be limited in Crucible, but there's no reason for it not to be available in PvE.
-
It would be nice. Dev rotation would be nice too.

A weapons wheel is sorely missing from this game. Destiny devs, go play Resistance on ps3. That's how to do it.

Triangle swaps weapons.
