How the Crucible Marks Reward system could be way better

This goes out to the k/d obsessed, rage quitting, overly competitive gamers out there who pop aneurisms 1 out of every 4 matches in Destiny’s Crucible. Now, before I get slammed as a hypocrite, I’ll admit that I’ve invested an embarrassing number of hours in said game mode. Trust me, the only reason I’m reliving my angst in writing this article is because I know that the Crucible could be THAT MUCH BETTER for players like us. The good news is that those changes shouldn’t/wouldn’t/couldn’t be that hard for Bungie to make. Communistic Reward System = Rage Destiny’s reward system serves the casual gamers, and I completely respect that. After all, it’s the rusty gamer dads and first-person-shooter noobs that gamers like myself prey off of. Nonetheless, of all developers, Bungie should understand that competitive multiplayer has become so much more than a casual experience. Going head to head with other players isn’t simply a pastime, it’s a sport, a proving ground, a straight up dick measuring contest. And you know what? I want to be rewarded for my big rig. I want everyone to know that I have one of the biggest rigs around. But alas, my victories and inflated k/d goes completely unnoticed, leaving me to bite my nails and plead for loot handouts with the guys who came in last place… I didn’t know we were playing in communist Russia. FU Rasputin. I’ll concede that the randomized loot rewards in Crucible makes a little sense considering that every other engram in the game is also randomized. However, the ‘crucible marks’ system is what really grinds my gears. First of all, building up a usable base of marks takes way too long. 150 marks for a single legendary weapon? Really? F*cking really!!!!!! Based on the static method of attaining these marks, 3 marks for winning a game type and 2 marks for losing, that’s an average of playing 62.5 Crucible games! Even in Rumble, the game’s free for all mode, the only player to get 3 marks is the one who comes in first place! What ever happened to a Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal? Too many times have I came in second place by a margin of 50-100 points only to receive as many marks as the guy with a k/d of 0.005. How they can fix it, easily You saw this coming: base the rewarded marks off of individual achievement, not that of the team’s. Encouraging team-based objectives is a great thing, but there are other ways to do it. I’m tired of carrying my entire team only to lose the game and get left with communal scraps. This is what I propose: For Control and Clash Game Modes: Winning team +3 base marks First Place: +1 marks totaling 4 marks PLUS guaranteed engram Second Place: +1 marks totaling 4 marks Third Place: +1 mark totaling 4 marks Fourth Place: +0 mark totaling 3 marks Fifth Place: +0 mark totaling 3 marks Sixth Place: +0 mark totaling 3 marks Losing team +2 base marks First Place: +1 marks totaling 3 marks PLUS guaranteed engram Second Place: +1 marks totaling 3 marks Third Place: +1 marks totaling 3 marks Fourth Place: +0 marks totaling 2 marks Fifth Place: +0 marks totaling 2 marks Sixth Place: +0 marks totaling 2 marks For Skirmish Game Mode Winning team +3 base marks First Place: +1 marks totaling 4 marks PLUS guaranteed engram Second Place: +1 marks totaling 4 marks Third Place: +1 mark totaling 4 marks Losing team +2 base marks First Place: +1 marks totaling 3 marks Second Place: +0 marks totaling 2 marks Third Place: +0 marks totaling 2 marks For Rumble Game Mode First Place: 4 marks PLUS guaranteed engram Second Place: 4 marks Third Place: 3 marks Fourth Place: 3 marks Fifth Place: 2 mark totaling 3 marks Sixth Place: 2 mark totaling 3 marks Bungie, all I’m asking is that you reward those who excel in your game rather than those who can play it more often!
